I don't think Dexter drinks!

I've noticed Dexter will quite happily splash about in it or put the odd paper ball into it but I have never seen him drink any water.

Should I be worried? He appears to be perfectly fine and I'm hoping that he is getting enough fluids from the wet food he has.

I have been trying to syringe water (from the side) into his mouth but he hates me doing it and maybe that going a bit OTT on my part!

If he is on a strictly wet diet, he may not be drinking, or drinking such small amounts and so seldom that you don't see it.

Quasar eats a raw diet and rarely drinks. I did not think he did because he was not using his own water bowl. I do see him, from time to time, drinking from the dog's bowl.

I think in a previous post you said Dexter doesn't really like or eat dry food, so I imagine he is getting enough moisture from his wet food as that is his main diet. When Jagger finally found a dry food he liked, I noticed him drinking but other than when it was really hot this summer, I often don't see either of them using their bowl to drink from, just to drown their fluffy mice! However, since I changed to a clumping litter, I am well aware they wee regularly as I'm constantly cleaning out their trays! So they don't seem to have any issues with that and must be getting plenty of moisture from somewhere!

I rarely see mine drink either. One thing you might try is getting a fountain. Cats often seem to enjoy using those more. They make ceramic ones now that are thankfully easy to keep clean (just pop them in the dish washer or run a cloth over them from time to time).

All of our cats drink more with the fountains than they did with water bowls but they also eat mostly dry food. We only do wet food about once a week.

Thank you, you've put my mind at ease. I know that Muskey drinks but he used to be on dry food mostly (now prefers wet) and I think he's probably more in the habit of drinking water.

Might get a fountain for Dexter when I get some spare cash as he's forever staring at the water taps, sitting in the sink and taking the plug for walkies!

I think my two would love a water fountain but not sure where I'd put it! I do run the taps for the boys sometimes though and they love drinking from a running tap as a cheaper alternative lol

I don't think Dexter drinks!
