Thank you for the tip but in this case the tablets have to be swallowed whole and not chewed! Will bear it in mind for the future though

I used to make 2 balls. one had nothing in it and the second had the tablet in it. I dropped the first one ,let them eat it and them made them beg for the other one which I dropped into their mouths,as usually they were in position. The tablet were small though and they weren't as clever as bengals can be

Day 7 AND NO POO TODAY..... YET

Well Monty has had his 2 week course of Ronizidol but he is still doing frequent stinky poos, I am thinking it hasn't gone I am waiting for the vet to call me back to see where we go from here! He did manage one solid poo first week in, but the rest have been cow pats, and now he is back to pooing several times a day and they are light grey and stinky! Feeling somewhat deflated as we gave him the pills religiously! Anyone else found the first course of the medicine not working??

The vet has sent another poo sample off to retest him - fingers crossed it's not that again

Poor Monty, I hope you get some answers soon.

It could be that he has Giardia. TF and Giardia often go hand in hand so the Ronidazole will not clear the Giardia.

If this is wrong I'm sure someone with more experience than me can correct me :) Have you had him tested for Giardia?

Yea, Giardia has the same symptoms. Serafina and Gaga had those symptoms too, although the ultimate cause in their case was never diagnosed, they simply got some medicine pro-actively that fortunately cured it.

You might be able to give your kitty some relief by having him eat some food with pumpkin in it. I know Weruva makes some forumulations like that, and I've seen unsweetened pumpkin (for pets) sold at various pet stores as well as Whole Foods. It's not a cure obviously but perhaps it would make it easier on your cat while this gets sorted out. You might ask your vet about that next time you see him.

He is having the full range of tests again so hopefully it will shed some light on the problem! As for changing his food, I'm trying!! The breeder had him on Felix and I'm not sure if that's setting his tummy off as its pretty rubbish food, but I am having no luck with finding something else he likes, so far he has turned his nose up at Applelaws, James Wellbeloved and Wainwrights. Am feeling frustrated that he is addicted to the crap stuff and won't try the good! He can detect the smallest amount of it in his regular food and just won't eat!

Poo sample number two results are in.........he still has the TF!!!!!!! The vet has contacted someone who wrote a paper on TF for advice, I'm waiting for him to call me, but as far as I am aware the only cure is more of the RDZ pills. I can't understand why he still has it, he had the course of tablets, the only thing I can think of is that he went back to the breeder for a week as we had booked a holiday, he was still on the tablets but I'm thinking he has been reinfected despite them telling me they had treated their cats and kittens!! Could he get reinfect whilst on the medicine?

Barbarella63, how are you doing now? Have you managed to cure the TF? My newly bough kitten has runny blody poo from the first day that we have bough him and now I'm wondering if he has TF. We been to vets, did deworming and antibiotics and some test, but he wasn't tested for TF. Please let me know how you doing. I'm going to take my kitten to vets on monday to see if they can test him for TF

He has still got it despite two lots of pills! Back to the vets again but they want to give him 50mg of th Ronizidole and I'm worried about what it will do to him!
