Hi all,

been reading the post re this illness. Can anyone tell me - has anyone heard of a cat being extremely cold alongside the mentioned symptoms? My F3 bengal who is 5 years old is displaying many of the symptoms of this illness, yet he was also hypothermic (temp was 95f, got up to 98f after having night in vets, on iv fluids and with heatpack). I am also about to go through extensive bloodwork with our cat to rule out any other issues (basic bloods are clear). Any help/advice would be great thanks x

I am a newbie to this forum and need your advice. I am long time pet owner; after having an empty house, meaning with no pets..for over 1 year after loosing our 21 year cat to old age, then our 5 year cat to cardiomyopathy and finally our 15 year Border Collie.
Sept. 2013, we acquired Belle, a Snow Leapard colored Bengal and George who is much darker grey and black Tabby markings almost. Handsome lad he is!! They are now 9 months old. Can't believe I did not adopt a Bengal before. Absolutely love the disposition, curiousness, lively jumps lol.

I also work for a vet for 6 yers as a receptionist/vet assistant. I am not a vet but know a little....

Rewind 2 months or so, George is now falling of the cat tree, hitting the floor hard..2 -3 times...eating great, god spirit, loves to playu when he is on the couch with us or Belle..no longer able to jump onto the couch or bed or table or kitchen island..his back leg are almost useless..other than the almost gimpy back leg, he does not seem to be in pain, I have touched and twisted and prodded and felt and pulled and nothing; he actually purr even more. Been to the vet X2, he is now on Metacam which has done nothing. He continues to deteriorate. He can still hump off the couch and bed, not smashing on the floor.

I stumbled onto your site as I am getting depressed and feel helpless. He is the picture of Bengal Polyneuropathy. I immediately called the vet and he was not very receptive to "my" diagnostic and insist on Xrays and perhaps a referral to a neurologist. I suggested a small dose of prednisone and he refused until xrays are done; I understand. I have a ms, a neurological disease and when I relapsed and I can't use my arm, prednisone for 2 weeks and voila, it works again.

Would love to have your expert advice. What are your thoughts? I would love to have old George back. Belle is mine and hubby's and George belongs to my son. It was a gift to replace his 6 month old Gizmo, a LynxPoint Siamese who was purchased from an alleged reputable breeder...so having his George back to form would be great..loosing him would be devastating.

Thank You Elaine..we have an appointment at the vet tomorrow; not sure how receptive he ill be..here in Canada,we have access to ordering medication on-line and we searched yesterday and can get 5mg prednisone on-line. I have read 5mg twice daily for 30 days.o you wean off 5mg. twice daily or contineous straight 5mg daily for 30 days and then stop?

We lost our 5 year old bengal last Oct 2013. We purchased a beautiful brown spotted boy who is now 13 mths old. Over the last couple of weeks he too has shown signs of polyneuropathy. He can't jump on or off the sofa now, when he poops he can't squat, he is in great spirits and wants us to play but can no longer play without rolling onto his side. We took him to the vet today and the vet can see the gait issue only on the rear. He does agree that it is more than likely polyneuropathy. He did prescribe predinsone 5 mg today. He said most of his patients can't afford to go through all the testing and he is going to confur with the neurologist and we will do all that we can for Zippy. PLEASE tell me where I can get more detailed information to help my baby. I have read there are many of the kitties in remission. I need to know all that I can to help him.

Because our vet has to wait for neurologist recommendations I am curious the exact course of prednisone treatment other neurologists have provided.
