Hi everyone,

I have a male Bengal approaching a year old. For the last month or so my Bengal has been eating but not keeping anything down. He has been loosing weight because of this. I have taken him to the vet multiple times and even a second vet yesterday. They have recommended diet changes a few different times and no matter what he has, he throws it up. I was first feeding him Blue Buffalo Wilderness blend for Kittens. The vet then had me try Natural Balance, both of which were grain free.

From my vet appointment yesterday we did X-rays and found that his intestines were full of what were assuming to be feces. The vet is starting with checking if there is a food allergy that he may have, so he told me to not feed him food for a few days, and just do water and beef or chicken broth. He has not touched the beef broth, and is constantly following me frantically begging for food. If its not an allergy then it could be something blocking him up that we cannot see in the X-ray. If this is the case it could be surgery which of course after spending almost $1000.00 already on vet visits food changes and everything else I definitely cannot afford.

I am at such a loss and don't know what to do. Its killing me inside everyday to see him like this and feeling like he is just getting worse. I don't know what help & advice anyone can offer, but any response will be appreciated.

It is dangerous for cats to not eat anything for a couple of days so that us a really bad idea!

Has he been having his bowels open at all?

I believe that he has some, rarely. He is still drinking water and doesn't seem to be throwing that up.

I'm surprised that the vet didn't want to try any laxatives or enemas if his bowels are full of poo and he's not passing much.

I would boil some chicken and feed him some shredded up in lots of the water.

Cats get fatty liver disease from not eating which can be fatal.

When was the last time he had a poo?

Being severely constipated can make them vomit!

Its hard to say, I do feel like its been a while since he has. Since the X-Rays showed that he was full of poo or at least seemed that way, maybe he is just severely constipated.

That is distinctly possible. The vomiting may have happened first, followed by dehydration, then constipation... now its a viscious circle... if nothing can get through, he will just vomit.

I would ask a vet for something to make him go. Did the vet ask about his poo?? I am quite surprised really. I would have though an xray full of poo and a history of vomiting for a long time would be quite clear that constipation might be an issue and not allergy!!

Plus, not feeding at all in case of allergy is a strange thing to advise. usually they try a low allergen food.

Maybe another vet would be better???

Yea I may have to. This is the second one I have gone to see. But more opinions couldn't hurt. The vet did ask about his poo. I even asked if he had anything that may push the rest through, but he seemed like he didn't find that the issue. Its all so confusing to me.

Any news on your boy?
