Well it's happened again.....We've had another outbreak of the Bingo paw!

It first occurred last year when Evvie devloped a very swollen paw.....We were baffled as to what had caused it and at the time we got very worried even though it didn't seem to bother her at all.

Anyways the other day she was having a little break from the kittens out in the garden just to get a bit of fresh air (under supervison ofcourse).....Whilst she was playing about in the grass something grabbed her attention in the distance and she stormed off after it as you would imagine a bengal would!

What she pounced on turned out to be a wasp or a bumble-bee.....And within minutes her paw swelled-up like a balloon.....Again she wasn't in any pain or discomfort at all.

Two days later and the swelling has completely gone.....It didn't seem as bad this time but atleast we now know the cause of the dreaded bingo paw!

And as for the old saying "Once bitten, Twice shy".....Well that obviously doesn't take into account the fearless nature of the mighty Bengal!

Ouch, poor eevie.

Her gorgeous face in that picture reminds me of our Hestia.

A bee managed to get into our cat run the other day. But Gav managed to stop Hestia before she pounced. Nothing scares our girl.

Does evvie go out into the garden without a leash then? I don't think we could catch our two if they made a dash for climbing over the fence. We tried taking them out on leashes, but they would just cry and cry when we came back in

Heidi sometimes takes them both out for a brief walk/drag around the cul-de-sac .....But once in a while we let them chase moths in the back garden just before dusk (only one at a time).

And as for them running off.....Well one is getting a bit swollen now because shes expecting so she knows scaling fences is out of the question and the other has her babies and copious amounts of food at the back of her mind.....So there's no danger of escape.....not on my watch...muhahahaha!

Sometimes we feel kinda cruel because they clearly like the outdoor life and they just sleep when they go in the cat run even though theres lots of things for them to do in there, But ultimately it's for their own well being and saftey.

So we're going to build something like your run that is attached to the house.....maybe make it a bit on the large size so we can use it for sitting out with them on these warm evenings.

I'll make it look nice and all that so the neighbours can't moan too much but that doesn't bother me much because they've just built a huge extension which to me looks hideous.....Not to mention that our cats needs basically set the priority for me anyways.

p.s Are your two still content with your enclosure....or do they want more space now they're a bit older?

They probably would like more space, who wouldn't They seem content enough though, we can open the front door now and they won't rush at it - the other day Siobhan opened the door to someone and forgot about the Bengals, turned around and there was one just stood there looking, so they can't be desperate to escape. I think if we took them out in the garden again though, it would upset them and they would spend their time inside crying to get out.

They like all of the obstacles in the cat run, it's fun playing fetch with them, I throw a ball up onto the platform and they jump up and fetch it across the assault course and bring it back to me Got a good video of them doing this, which I'll upload if it isn't too big...

Today they both sat outside in the hut watching the rain come down B)
