We have been in Brazil for a while visiting my family and for the last couple weeks I've noticed that Quentin stopped jumping on things (bed, couch), I thought that he was adapting to the new rules, since here he is not allowed to jump everywhere (like kitchen table, or dinner table) and also he doens't have his cat tree. Recently, I built a cat tree for him but instead of jumping on it he is climbing it. He has been walking very slow and spend most of the day laying down, at the begining I thought that was the hot weather making him lazy, but now I AM WORRIED. He is eating and drinking very well as usual, no diahreas. Every once in while he throws up…

I am taking him to the vet, but since bengals are not very common here, I would like to go there with some useful information. If anyone know about these symptoms please advise.

My only experience with that is when my 17 year old kitty started having that problem, but I don't think that is very relevant to your situation.

I've seen 2 or 3 users have similar problems with their cats, the most recent of which is this:

You might also try some searches back a ways, because I distinctly remember at least one other case a year or two ago.

Thank you all for the information, I watched the video from Loki and Quentin is not in that stage yet! He is losing strength but he is still walking! I've been researching the whole day and he is going to the vet first thing tomorrow morning! I will keep you updated!

Aortothromboembolism(ATE) is an acute event where the clot lodges in the main artery in the body before it splits to give blood to the legs. It is very, very painful, the cat is in dire straits, with partial or complete paralysis of both back legs. The cat will be lying down.

Quentin, doesn't sound like ATE at all, but HCM can reduce the blood flowing into the body causing weakness. When my Barrie first presented with HCM, he had short episodes of being unable to use his back legs and he had short fainting liike episodes too. That was not caused by a clot but because his heart was intermittently incapable of pumping enough blood to all parts of his body. The pulses in his back legs are reduced due to his HCM, but in a cat with Aortothromboembolism the pulses are absent as NO blood is flowing to the legs.

My cat Montana, who had Bengal Polyneuropathy (B P-N) I immediately thought had ATE when I saw that she couldn't walk, but her pulses were fine. She actually had an period about 6 months of being unable to jump up, prior to her main episode of B P-N, that episode resolved itself over a few weeks with anti-inflammatories. We thought it was an injury but she showed no signs of pain or tenderness. Now I think it too was B P-N.
Since the severe episode which I have talked before about here on the forum, she has had no further issues.

These informations are very useful!! Thank you all four your concern.

Quentin and I just came back from the vet. He took a blood test which was great and nothing uncommon was found. Next step will be on Monday when Quentin will take a x-Ray to check his heart and if he has dysplasia. If we don't find anything we will have to drive 4 hours to get an Echocardiogram. The closest machine to do this test is 4 hours from here.

The vet said that for Idiopathic polyneuropathy there is no treatment and the cat heals by itself.

This morning I've noticed that Quentin was walking a little faster than yesterday! It made happy!

I personally believe what he has is polyneuropathy because he has been losing muscle tone. Yesterday he jumped out of the couch and hit his face on the floor. He is losing strength on the front legs. But is not severe, he is walking in a clumsy way.

I can't wait to solve all this and have my baby healthy again!
