So Clive started to pee often with small amounts. Also peed a few times inappropriate places.
So I took his pee sample and off to vets.
Vets came back with -ph level normal, high level of white blood cells.
This would indicate infection to me.
However my vet examined Clive , did ultra sound of his bladder and concluded 'no infection, potentially stress related irritation of bladder' ,gave us metacalm and sent us home.
I think I might be complaining about vets too much because they never seem conclusive and certain to me, always in the grey and always blame stress if challenged.
Is it just me ?

Can somebody please comment on their experience with vets in similar situation. Mainly on tests and treatment their vets suggested.

Completely agreed that vets reach for the "stress factor" first if not presented with something grossly obvious (like a cut or an eye infection). That stated, conservative measures (including stress management) can and do work a lot of the time.

Bottom line, I still don't know what Aza's "stressors" may have been but I'm suspecting just one too many passing neighborhood cats. He's a pretty high strung character anyway, so I'm hoping his new diet will keep this issue at bay. If not, there are backups (as described in the link).

The weirdest thing about FLUTD is that it can clear up on its own within 5-7 days but, like you, I didn't want to see my boy suffer or risk long-term related issues.

Good luck with finding a workable resolution.

PS: Only something like 2% of FLUTD incidences are truly caused by infection.

OK so completed a course of metacalm now.
Unfortunately I don't think it helped him.
During the course he was much calmer and content however continued to pee often small amounts throughout.
I will be talking to vets on Monday but wanted to hear some opinions/suggestions what should I do next.

I am thinking vets will suggest to go through antiobitic course now. Is this OK after metacalm? I'm not happy to experiment drugs on my boy and fear I will have another argument withy vets.
Please help/advice.

Metacam is an anti inflammatory, so it may have assisted in addressing the pain issue, however that's it. Usually my vet prescribes it in conjunction with long acting antibiotics. I have had luck with cranberry powder in wet food as well.

Unfortunately UTI issues can be difficult to deal with, good luck.
