Ok so I have contacted the specialist vet and she recommended the same as uc davis. From now on I will mske the 1.5 hour trip there to actually be seen by a vet that cares about cats. All of the vets around here seem to only treat dogs and livestock.

We startedJasper on the ronidazole last night. Poor guy, I have never seen so much poo come out of any animal. It has made his diarrhea worse, which the specislist said it could possibly do that after the first couple of doses. He seems to be fine other wise and has actually been playing quite a bit more. Of course it could be because I have loaded down on new toys to make sure he is neurologically well. So far keeping the two of them seperate has not been fun. They both howled for each other most of the night! Please everyone pray that this helps Jasper, I am not sure how much more either of us can take!

We have SOLID POO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not all the firm but more so than ever before, and only after two doses of ronizadole! I hope I am not being overly optimistic but I hope this is what he needed! Onky two doses in I am wondering if it's just coincidence?!?

Oh wow thank you Lisa! I hope it continues, he acts like he feels better already other than being pilled heseems happier in general. It could also be from him having panacur, but regardless I am happy we are finally on some kind of treatment. I made an appointment with the specialist, he has to go back to be restested after he finishes the treatment. She suggested 20 days after he finishes. She also ordered pouch test for me to test BB, I have to buy a microscope but she said all it has to be is a student microscope as long as it has 400x magnification. She will give me a print out and a website to guide me through what I should be looking for. Has anyone heard of this?

I know but I have called so many different vets and no one will give te medicine without a positive result! I really do not know what to do!! I told my husband we could get the pouch test and tell them it's positive! I am at a loss. All I know to do is wait it out and see what happens. I gave up keeping them seperated. I can't take the chance of them not getting along once I reintroduce them. It was non sense for me to even think that will work. What are the chances of BB giving it back to him if she doesn't have diahrrea? They don't use each other's litter boxes or even drink from the same water bowl. I am just happy to have Jasper feeling better for now. Hopefully it will work itself out. I have contacted a few local breeders to see if they have a vet to recommend

Thank you aza! I have just talked to a breeder that is close by (2 hours) and her vet treated all of her cats and the litter of kittens she had when her stud tested positive. She gave me their contact information so I will be calling them tomorrow. A two hour drive might stress all of us but it is better than them passing this back and forth indefinitely! It took Jasper a long time to finally come around and for both of them to be buddies, I dont want to bsck track and possibly start all over again, that might be selfish on my part but I dont want to jeopardize the harmony!

Yayyy BB meds are being compounded and should be here Monday! I finally had to get a little nasty with the vet and I took 22 pages of info up there to show them that it is highly contagious and she will get it if she doesn't already. He kept telling me she has to test positive, so I told him I would bring stool to him, and asked how would he know who it belonged to. He kinda laughed and said " you are hell bent on getting her this medicine, if you want to fork out 200 dollsrs and take the chance of side effects so be it" . So BB will get treated too

just an update on Jasper, he still has firm stool and hasnt went out of the litter! I am sooooo relieved!

Both cats are now on ronidazole! BB has never had to have meds before other than being dewormed or vaccinated, she has proven to be a little monster to pill

I have a question about the meds, does it increase urine output? Jasper is peeing like no tomorrow and not that he is going more often than before it is just large amounts. He has also decided the litter box is his worst enemy and has chosen my daughters bed to do his business! Her mattress is ruined now! I have cleaned it with an upholstery cleaner and used a whole bottle of nature's miracle but it hasn't helped. As soon as I can get a sample I will take it for testing but he hasnt went yet! The vet tech gave me a syringe to collect the sample so I don't have to stress him by bringing him up there sgain.

The Ronidazole did not increase the urine output for my two. It could be a urine infection?? Especially with not using the litter tray. Hopefully when you get a sample tested, this will let you know exactly what is going on.
