Hip/Back Leg Issues in 7 Month Old Male (not dysplasia)?

I am going to ask the obvious - Has any possibility of a nerve being damaged during the neutering, or a post operative infection, been ruled out?
It seems odd that the symptoms show up just as the healing process should be happening....

My first though was something from the neuter, but the vet doesn't think it has anything to do with it.

UPDATE: By friday evening, he was shuffling everywhere he needed to go. Wouoldn't even try to walk anymore. We started the steroids saturday morning....48 hours ago. I SEE IMPROVEMENT!!!! I'm trying not too get excited, because he is still FAR from normal. But he's at least trying to walk and play, instead of shuffling around on his rear end. He is able to walk a good 10 feet before he sits down. And when he isn't walking, he sits now, instead of lying down right away. Also, as he normally has to be in the same room as me, and follows me everywhere. Since this started, that obviously wasn't happening. This morning, he followed me everywhere! Slowly, but he tried and did pretty good! I'm going to call the vet today and see what she thinks about the continued steroid treatment, as she only gave him 3 days of a standard dose, and we are supposed to start weaning him tomorrow (remember, she didn't think steroids would do anything).

Wasn't the same vet that performed his neuter.

If I can't persuade her to continue something that is obviously working, I think I need to find a new vet!

That *does* look a lot better. Kudos to you to sticking this out and doing everything you can for your kitty. I'm really hoping for a good outcome.

That video made me so happy for him and you too! You are right if your vet denies treatment that is obviously working something is wrong! I hope he continues to improve, please keep us updated. That seriously made my day and its been a bad day so thanks :cool:

The first video was just heart breaking! :sad:

But the video after the steroid treatment is extremely encouraging!!! :yes3:

Nice to see improvement so soon. If your current vet is uncooperative, absolutely get on board with a different vet that will work with you.

Aww. Bless him. He looks so much better already compared to the first heartbreaking video.
Fingers crossed the vet will continue the steroids and give him the best chance of recovery.
If not - Off to another vet!

Loki still can't jump, but in all other ways, he seems to be back to normal! He is walking fine, with proper gait, he's running and playing, and if he jumps down off the couch, he can actually land on his feet without his legs giving out! I'm so happy we've seen this much improvement in only a week. I just hope the jumping follows soon!
