Well just give the last capsule and hope when their poop is tested in a few weeks it comes back negative for TF.

Would just like to thank everyone on here for their advice, help and support. You have been a mine of information and if anyone else new to the forum thinks their kitty may have TF, send them my way as I feel like a bloody professor on the subject now after all the internet trawling and reading of medical papers and trials lol.

I bet you feel so glad you don't have to give them another pill - fingers crossed for the re test but I'm sure they will be just fine.

Great news.... I know exactly how you feel.

It is not completely necessary to test for TF if their poo stays nice and firm. Chances are, it was cleared if the stinky runny stuff does not come back. Up to you if you want to as it is not an invasive test. I did test again, but it felt I had to as a breeder. If the insurance will pay for it, then you may as well. If you have to pay, weigh up whether you think its worth the money as I am sure you would know if the TF is still there in 90% of cases. Plus, TF is rarely shed in firm poo, not impossible but rare, so you may not necessarily be getting a true result if it comes back negative.

Thanks Lollo. Yes, I was wondering about the re-test as my kitties are indoors and I don't breed. I am not sure if PetPlan would pay for this (the test is around £60 I think) so I will find out. I am sure they are fine though as there hasn't been a bloody, stinky, diarrhoea from either of them since the 2nd day of taking Ronidazole.

I think, if i were you and Petplan wouldn't cover the cost, i would not bother unless they got the runs again... then i would sample straight away for TF testing.....

OMG!! Thought it was normal for 3-4 poops a day.

Since the Ronidazole - only one poop per day (very rarely there's been two)

I have noticed that my 5 month old kitten does have very stinky poops and some loose stools. (Not all the time) but I do feed mostly wet food and am not sure if the smell is due to the wet food? I have not had him tested yet, but did talk to my vet about it, and he mentioned that the treatment can cause neurological issues. I am in the United States and wonder if anyone has heard this?
I am going to have him tested anyway, but am a little scared of the treatment... Any thoughts?

Your vet is probably reading old information. Ronidazole used to be given in much higher doses and there was a small risk of neurological issues.

However, since the dosage has been revised down then as far as I know there have been no reported cases of neurological issues (also TF is probably more rife now than back then so more cats are being treated).

Thank you, Lisa and Bengal Daddy. I started a new topic on my question, as I noticed that the last date from this was November 16th and I was worried that it might not get seen.
