I have a 10 year old named Daddy. A little over a year ago he had his first episode, he looked completely dazed and confused and was unable to walk on his back legs. It passed after about a minute. I took him to the vet the next morning they ran bloodwork and of course everything came out fine. Over the course of the last year he has about 3 episodes that I know of anyway. The last one was almost of year ago. Just this last Wednesday night he had another episode and it appeared to be his back leg and one of his front legs. It passed after about a minute. Tonight he came upstairs and I heard this knocking around, I thought maybe he was playing with my kitten. I looked down and he was on his side thrashing around almost like he was paddling. I immediately told my husband he was having a seizure, it was very obvious. This was unlike anything that has happened before. I went down to him and just held him and stroked him and told him he was ok. It seemed to last about 15 seconds and he seemed to recover very quickly. He was up and normal almost immediately after. I'm going to take him in next week but am wondering if anyone has had an experience like this? I'm so worried about him, he's my sweet baby. I would greatly appreciate any input - thank you!

Have you been taking him to the same vet each time? Has the vet given you this diagnosis? If it were me I would skip the old vet and see a specialist!! I am not very familiar with distal neuropathy but can't it be treated with prolonged use of steroids? Or am I getting it confused with something else?

Epilepsy (Primary) will not present itself at 10 years old. The seizures most likely will be secondary being caused by something else - so seeing the vet again is very important as if the bloods are not showing any issue then there needs to be some screenings/xrays/ultrasounds on his organs to find the cause.
