Alright. Let's see. This post is a little graphic, sorry.
I have a previous post about Corona virus a bit further down, but I need to know if anyone has ever dealt with Cryptosporidium? I have 2 cats. Penny 1.6 y/o and Ninja 5 months old. Ninja came to us at the end of September this year, he had diarrhea from the first night he was home with us. I thought stress and food change did that. It went very wrong very fast and became liquid yellow poop and he was going 5-6 times a day. I took him to the vet, they did PCR testing for TF and a whole bunch of other things. TF was negative, but it was positive for Corona virus and Cryptosporidum. The vet gave us some metronidazole and tylosin for him and it seemed to be somewhat working a little. He was having not all hard poop, but hard enough to make me a little less worried. It went down from 6 times a day to 3 ish.
My other cat Penny seems to have caught it too. She started having diarrhea and we medicated her as soon as it started and she is now doing fine... well we will have to see in a couple days as we just finished her medication.
So 3-4 days ago, we were done with all of Ninja's medication, he was still doing fine, but I noticed that he was eating less and less, but still poop were OKish, no diarrhea but not super hard either. He was playing and sleeping and drinking fine though. Today, I came back from work, the little guy didn't come to see me at the door which is odd. I went to see him, he seemed afraid and was huddling in a chair, and I could tell he was not feeling well. He went to his litter, had diarrhea with a little blood. 5 mins later, vomited a huge amount of food to my surprise. He seemed better for about 10 mins, then again in the litter for more diarrhea with blood. I think this is when I started crying. There is apparently no treatment for that thing except time and a little help from some pills but the cat is supposed to get rid of that himself, although it is very VERY hard to get rid of.
I will take him to the vet again in the morning, I am so lost and at my wits end. I am SO worried and sad, and at a lost for words to describe how I feel to be honest.
Has anyone ever dealt with that horrible parasite? Any ideas?
