Just thought I would let you know that the vet has just phoned to say that Rio is positive for TF. He has ordered in the drugs for both Rio and Chilli (Ronidazole) and will let me know once he has it in.

Just glad that we know what it is and we can now move forward with treatment

So pleased you have an answer Lisa just sorry that it is TF, but at least you now know.

To be honest, it's far easier knowing its TF and treating than it not being TF and your left trying to change diets or something..... Least you have an answer and can treat it.

Reason another post that the breeder denied any issue with their cats.... Think they burying their heads in the sand! Not exactly the most responsible breeders in the world!

When you get the Ronidazole, make sure the dose is appropriate to their weight and is once daily for 14 days. Give it at the same time each day. Give the capsule whole, do not open and sprinkle in food as it's VERY bitter and a carcinogen. Play with them with a toy that makes them jump around every day at the same time so you can assess their co ordination and neurological status. Any worries, stop giving the drug and consult your vet.

I feel horrible to say this but I honestly wish Jasper had tf!! I have had the PCR done twice now and both times it came back negative!! Now I am having to do allergy test and change his diet AGAIN!! Funny things is even when he was on raw his poo was horrible!! Not sure what to do now honestly!!

I am glad you have gotten to the bottom of it with your babies!!! Hopefully all will be well soon!

Thanks Lollo. I feel I'm getting to be almost an expert on TF now lol

I know I need to play with them every day to check for neurological signs and I know its also a teratogenic drug - can be dangerous to unborn foetus. (Thankfully I'm way past that stage of my life) but if anyone asks I'm 27 lol

Regarding the breeder - she hadn't even heard of TF - I told her about it. She said she will speak to her vet Monday and see what he says. I told her straight she needs to get all 12 of her cats/current kittens tested but she said they're all kept separate so depending on what the vet says to her she will only get the queen of my kittens tested!!! I said what if it's your stud? She said no it can't be him.

To be honest I hope her vet tells her to get them ALL tested. She may listen to him. She should also tell the two owners of the other two kittens from my two's litter but again, doubt that she will.

Vet just called. Ronidazole will be here 5-10 days as has to be made according to their weight.

Didn't think it would take this long!! Now I have the diagnosis I just want to get on and treat asap.
