Oh dear where to start...
I'll try to make this short, but if my post turns into an essay, forgive me.
I have 2 Bengal cats, Penny who is one and a half years old (posted pics of her a long time ago in the pic section) and Ninja who is 5 months old. I brought Ninja home a month ago, awesome little guy, super cuddly, Penny loves him, joy in our house. Penny has had a longstanding history of diarrhea, vomiting, at some point she had fluids around her lungs, but the vet tested and tested and tested and she is fine. She is a terribly stressed out cat and we still don't know why, we are doing our best for her to be relaxed and happy but it seems to be in her temperament. After finding the right food for her, her vomiting/diarrhea problems stopped.
Ninja (the new younger cat) on the other hand is having diarrhea, and I thought that maybe he was stressed out being in a new house, with a cat he doesn't know, and the food change and all. After a couple days, the diarrhea turned into a more severe mode, where he was going 5 to 6 times a day and was pooing yellow liquid every time. (sorry for the graphic description). The vet tried Metronidazole (I am still having nightmares about trying to give that to him), and after a week she said, we will test for tritrichomoas Feotus cause this is ridiculous and the diarrhea has to stop. They ordered a PCR test and asked me if I wanted the one only for TF or the one for TF and 4-5 other parasites. I chose the big one, better safe then sorry. The vet called me tonight. SURPRISE, your cat has the coronavirus and No TF (YAY for no TF). Right away I started panicking, thinking of FIP.
I am just wondering, I know the vet told me NOT to panic about FIP, that it doesn't always mutate into it. Right now Ninja is at the vet being treated, with some medication, to try and get the diarrhea to subside because he was unable to resolve it himself. I am thinking that Penny might have had that virus for a long time and could have passed it on to the kitten. I am wondering if this is why Penny had some fluids around her lungs this summer... I mean she is right in that age for FIP no?
Does anyone has any experience with corona virus? I am really trying to stay calm about this, but to be honest, I am failing miserably.
