Odd tooth

Our boys had some basic dental job done today don´t know english word but I mean "calculus dentalis". They had some, not much.

It came out, Hanibal and Attila too had odd backteeths (P4). Hannibal on both sides, Attila on his left side. It is difficult to explain so I took pictures. Have you noticed theese kind of teeth´s in your bengal´s mouths?

I cant honestly say I have noticed, I actually havent looked into their mouths.

That's really odd looking. It sort of looks like they've kept their baby teeth and the adult ones had just grown alongside but I guess the dental team would have picked up on that. Are they OK with chewing and stuff?

gosh how did you manage that - i can't get near their mouths, and our vet discovered some mild gingevitis today

so gonna have to run the gauntlet (and probably wear one!) and have a go with a toothbrush :roll:

My neuter boy Nugget had some calculus (hardened plaque) last year and despite cleaning (yes with a toothbrush, and more easily but not by much enzymatic toothpaste-he hated it), he had to have it drilled off.

I changed his dry food and reduced wet food down (he really isn't keen on it anyway and drinks very well), and on regular checking it hasn't come back significantly.

Best time to examine the mouth is when they are sleeping on you, gently play with the lips and have a look. Not easy initially I admit, but they do get used to it.

Just checked out Sammie and she doesn't have any teeth that look like that.

Our vet gave me a sample of RC Dental kibbles, Freya can't keep her head out of the bowl! So thats good, they don't get that much pouched food ( 1/2 pouch twice a day) and i bulk it out with kitten iams. Gonna have a good look round now as it is time to start changing them to adult as well and try and introduce food that is better for their teeth - i am quite ashamed to tell the truth, they are only 10 months old and i have let them down.
