Hi, ive just come home from work and one of my cats has what looks like a puncture wound near her bum, she lives indoors with my 3 other cats who are all male neuters.
It looks clean and is not bleeding, and doesnt seem to be bothering her. do you think i should clean it or just keep an eye on it for now?
Ive seperated them for the time being in case one of them is the culprit.
also she has a show in feb do you think they would mark her down for it?

Cat bites/scratches can get infected really easily. You'd be best to bathe the wound with a strong salt water solution (as much table salt as you can dissolve in some luke warm water). If it seems to be developing a lump under the surface, it could be forming an abscess and you should see the vet. I can't help with the showing question, unfortunately. Hope your kitty is OK!

give it a little soak with some salt water, then pat it dry, just to help prevent any infections. as long as she or the others aren't bothering it, it should be ok & you have over a month til the show so it should grow over in time

I would get kitty to the vet Jen. A 'puncture' wound can indicate that an abscess is forming already. My Xabu had the same hole near his bot a few years ago, and it turned into a huge abscess after a few days despite the cleaning

The sooner you get him to the vet, the sooner it'll heal. He may need antibiotics. I wouldn't let it go too ling. Especially for a show cat, you don't want there to be any lasting damage or scars. If if doesn't heal, the judges will mark you off for it. Even though, they are cats and cats will get into mischief.

Thanks all, she seems ok today, theres no puss or anything coming out so i will carry on with the bathing for now and see how it looks tommorow.
