As above - i clean any clumps out daily (hourly sometimes!) and clean and completely re-fill both trays once a week.
I also have a 3rd tray in the enclosure which needs clearing out more regularly (They seem to like doing their 'business' in the fresh air )

depends on what you use...
i tried many kinds of litter but always had a hard time, some absorb well and are easy to discard in the toilet but are to light and stick on the paws. Others dont stick but also don't lump so when they pee you will have a mess on the bottom and thats disgusting.

Right now i am finally very happy with 2 different litters

one is crystals (silica gel), they look like white and blue pieces of glass and the other one called Cats Best "Nature Gold"
Both absorb realy well, also absorb the odor very well and don't stick on the paws. The cats however prefer the Cats best, maybe crystals are not comfortable to stay on.
Actually they prefer to pee on the crystals and use the other box for the bigger business.

I use a huge box with roof "Petmate" it is wonderful as i never have any dirt to clean around the box.
I have 3 cats, 2 are 7 month and one is 12 weeks now.
i remove the lumps every day 2 times and change the litter completely about every 3 weeks. the crystals i change as soon as i see that they start to change color and smell a little bit, usually every 2 weeks.

Before i was using Catsan, it was horrible... my cats pee a lot and the sand can not absorb it quick enough so the pee will run on the bottom of the box and you will have sticky mud there.... smell was horrible too and i find it annoying to discard the poo and pee 2 - 3 times a day as you should not flush it in the toilet.

I use Worlds Best, i've tried all the others on the market, and IMO, Worlds Best really is just that.
Cheaper versions don't do the same job. Love the stuff, there's no mess left in the tray, it clumps easily and it can be flushed down the loo.
