hi everyone.

i think my little sugar has broken or dislocated her tail

i haven't noticed her hurt herself but she has been playing rough while her brother is here for his holidays. the tail is hanging limp from about 5 verterbrae down the rest of her tail & there is a little solid lump, which makes me think maybe it's a dislocation...it's not an abcess. she lifts it up at the base, but then it just loops & hangs. she doesn't seem to be in much pain unless i touch where the lump is.

i hope she is ok. from what i have read it shouldn't need amputating & if it's only dislocated she has every chance of recovering completely & regaining the sense in the nerves.

but i'm worried about her it could be the end of her very short show career.

i've got an appointment at the vets, got to leave in 45 mins. fingers crossed for us please everyone. xx

hi everyone, we're back.

thanks all for your kind words & support.

it looks quite promising at the mo, she's on anti-inflammatrys & they gave her an injection to start off. they think it's more than likely a slight dislocation & they hope there is no nerve damage...just a little numb from the trauma.

when she got home she lifted her tail just slightly & tho she doesn't feel anything at the tip of the tail she does seem to curl it round a little bit. if all goes well there should be improvement in the next few days as the swelling goes down. if not, and she still doesn't seem to feel anything or move it independantly then we may have to think about amputation

fingers, toes & everything else crossed (except tails) & it will be ok. hopefully just a very narrow escape this time!!!

i have to keep her away from her bro for the rest of the time he's here tho cos they play too rough! that's probably how she did it in the first place.

phew!

she's fine in herself, doesn't seem to be in much pain...but she's got such a beautiful tail!!! lol

Ohh Ren- I hope little Sugar's tail is just a temporary setback for her (and you). Since she is moving it a little, it sounds promising. I wish her well for a speedy recovery. Hang in there!

HOOOORRAYAAAYYYYY!!!!!!!!!

with a lot of positive thought & anti-inflammatrys my little baby is lifting her tail today!!!

it's very weak but she definately has more control over it than she did yesterday. she can curl the tip which is a fantastic sign so hopefully over the next few days it will get stronger & eventually back to normal.

the thought of her maybe losing it was awful, she's got such a lovely tail with a beautiful marble pattern along it! i would have been heartbroken!

thank you all so much for your kindness, support & positive words. it really did help me get through a very worrying day!
