thankyou for your kind words about jarv, it was over a year ago now but of course you miss them always. it was actually a relief when he passed away, although sad, because he had been fighting the cancer for well over a year. he's long at peace as many of our past friends are :D

i think it is a good idea for you to get rohan checked again if there is still blood, it doesn't hurt to be over cautious. it is good that he is passing urine tho, as the biggest complications are when they are struggling to pass, so that's a good sign.

my thoughts are with you, i hope he starts improving soon xx

I called the vet again and explained Rohan isnt moving. He and his tech met us at the hospital. They did an ultrasound and said he is not blocked again which was the real worry. He was extremely dehydrated and they gave the option of an IV or subcutaneous fluids. Knowing Rohan he'd pull the IV out overnight so we opted to do the fluids and come home with him. The vet gave him an anti vomit shot too. Oh and said dont give him the med to relax his sphinkter anymore because it could be what made him sick.

We came in the door and he made a B-line for the litter box. He strained a bit and pee'd just a tiny bit, then about 30 seconds later did it agian but pee'd more. He's now laying next to the box staring at it. He just doesnt feel well, there's no mistaking it.

oh poor boy

it sounds like he is still blocked, to keep straining & only release little bits at a time, & to keep going back. i guess the vets know what they are doing if nothing has shown up on the ultrasound. he really is having a rough time, i really feel for him & you.

i hope he gets better quickly. xx

Poor Rohan, wishing him a speedy recovery. My sisters cat had the same problem and was kpet at the vets on 3 occasions (one being Christmas day) He is on a prescription diet now and is doing fine with no reoccurance of the problem for over 2 years now.
Her vet said that stress can sometimes be a factor as well as diet.

Well, after 3 days of hospital, 2 flushes, neutering, 1 sub cue fluid emergency visits and eating new Science Diet C/D food, he seems back on track. He is peeing, not much but still going. He plays a bit but still mostly sleeps all day. Here's a picture of him yesterday. He just is still SO thin, and he looks SO old.

And yes that is a childrens chair we bought just for him lol

I'm glad to hear he is getting better! He has been through a lot- I am sure he will snap back soon. He is a cute boy! I recently had two seperate surgeries (I have another on Tuesday), and it takes awhile to get back to your normal self. I bet he is glad to be back home from the hospital! Give him a pat on the head, and a scratch behind the ear for me  .

Take care,
Carol
