Wow, Mikesch is one clever and determined cat!

I'd suggest the same - actually lock the food away so he can't get to it.
If you're trying to put him on a diet, it may be the only way...

I have noticed that Saffy has put on a few extra pounds lately, too, so i feed her one pouch of wet food divided in to two meals, plus a handful of biccies for the day - and no treats other than at weekends!

He certainly is a determined cat. And he steals Binky's food, too! Well, Binky weighed in at 16 lbs during his last vet visit, so he should be on a diet as well. But with him I have the excuse that he was already overweight when I adopted him...

I've tried storing dry food bags in the oven, but that was a bad idea. Mikesch quickly figured out where they were and started trying to open the oven door. Not good!

I'm heading out to the hardware store, so I'll check for a big storage bin with a securely latching lid. If I put that into the garage, he shouldn't be able to get to it. I just don't feel like storing food in the garage would be such a good idea.

it shouldn't be so bad if it's in a secure container like you suggested.
mind you, he's already in love with your car...you'll never get him out of the garage rofl!!

i have to laugh...the things we end up having to do because of our beloved cats...

*lol* Well, Mikesch is now chewing the plastic liner of my kitchen cabinets. Silly cat... He's also back to chewing window frames:

And here are the two kibble bellies in their combined 30 pound glory that might benefit from reducing their food intake just a tad...

I found some toy balls at the store today that you can fill with kibble and it's being released through a hole in the ball. Yeay! From now on, they'll have to work for their kibble by rolling the ball around. Mikesch already grasped the concept, while Binky hasn't quite caught onto it yet...
