Sing Sing for Tiger

What a week!

Tiger has a fractured pelvis and a compressed joint between 2 of his discs (2&3).

The pelvic injury happened last Saturday when he 'fell' off the dining table (he actually flew up into the air doing his electrified cat impersonation when Lilly startled him). Unfortunately he hit the side of the table on the way down and bounced off the edge of the bench. Ouch!

This of course had to happen when the vet is closed, hence a 20 mile journey to the emergency centre. They were unsure of his injuries because he showed very little pain (in fact purring and paddling during his examination) so injected pain killers. We took him home and did our best to keep him 'quite'.

X-rays on Tuesday showed up the damage, so it's 2 weeks in a 'crate' for him to heal the pelvic damage, though he moves much better already.

The disc problem baffles the vet as he shows no signs of neurological damage (thank god). He did fall about 15 feet out of a tree last month, so there's a possible 'incident'. However, Lilly is so much more agile than Tiger has ever been (she can jump up into the built-in fridge when the door is opened) so our inkling is that he's had this a good while.

We took him outside this morning as he was 'howling' at the sun. Bless.

I've just let him out so as to clean his tray etc. I literally turned my back on him for 10 secs to re-fill his water......

He's off like greased lightning chasing Lilly around the house :roll:

Let's just say that he's a lot more mobile than he was a week ago :wink:

Hi there, glad to hear he's now on the mend. By the way, hope you dont mind me asking, where do you buy such a crate? I'd love to let my two sit in the sun outside, and that size looks perfect.

I have crates exactly the same as that, for my dogs..

I got them off ebay..
so much cheaper than the pet stores in town..
just type in dog crate/cage..

Most pet shops will stock them - they are primarily for dogs/puppies.

Tiger's is a 36" long so as to fit his tray etc. You can get them on the net for about £30-40 plus postage. We needed ours there and then so it was £50 from the local pet shop.

I'm thinking of getting a padlock for it and locking the kids in it when they misbehave - a sort of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang theme park :lol:
