I was at the Bengal Cat Club Show yesterday, and was very surprised to see a Bengal there who had some pink patches on his pawpads.
Foolishly, I didn't take a note of his pen number, so wasn't able to check who he was. From memory though, he was an adult entire male (so presumably a stud), and was a snow.
I was genuinely under the impression that the pawpads had to be black or brown (depending on colour of Bengal), and haven't come across patchy pawpads before on a Bengal.
Can anyone enlighten me at all?
I saw some photos of lockets that also included pink patches on pawpads - what is the thinking here?
Thanks so much for helping me learn!
Nicky

I believe that pink paw pads (or patches on) are not accepted at GCCF shows but are at TICA. I don't think they would be 'favoured' at TICA but they aren't a disqualification fault.

It is believed that pink paw pads are associated with lockets but not proven to go hand-in-hand.

I had a cat years ago that produced a kitten whose pads went pink at maturity, and she also produced a kitten who was seen (when adult) to have a tiny speck of white on the tip of a toe, which I think is more associated with pink pawpads than lockets are......but all involve white hairs!

It is interesting that this cat never produced a kitten with a locket, and neither did any of her offspring produce them.

Thanks for that Karen!
I wonder whether anyone else noticed this cat at the show?
I took lots of pictures with someone else's camera, and have left a message asking whether I captured the patches in any of the photos. So far I haven't had a reply, but will share the pictures if I have any.
All of the information that I have found seem to indicate that pawpads must be one colour for showing purposes, so I am curious about it now!
