Can't help with a pen I'm afraid but hubby and I are coming for a peek at all the wonderful cats, are you going to be there both days? Would love to meet a fellow forum member, we only live just down the road. Selina

We are hoping to come along as spectators. Does anyone know how we go about this? Do we need to buy tickets from anywhere or do you buy on the door? does anyone know how much it is just to spectate? Can find loads of info if you want to show but not to go and watch !

We will need two adult tickets and a child, bit of a treck for us but it will be worth it !

Thanks

I'm not sure either Fifi, we are going to spectate on Sunday so if anyone has any info about buying tickets that would be great. Hope we get to meet some forum members, you'll have to wear a red carnation!! Selina

Tickets are £2.00 for adults, £1.00 for children/OAP and they’re valid for 1 day, just turn up and buy your ticket at the door. You can also buy a catalogue with details of all the exhibits but I’m not sure how much they are. The show is open from approx 9am-5pm both days but the Bengal congress classes will be held last thing on Saturday.

I finish work at 3 on Saturday, and I literally live a few miles away so may even sneak over on Saturday. Without sounding too blonde what is a Congress? Selina

Hi Selina,

A congress is a kind of specialist class that judges just a subset of cats that have entered the show. Common congresses are ‘male’, ‘female’ or ‘breed specific’. At the BCCGB show there will be 3x Bengal Congresses (Kitten, Adult & Alter).

The difference between a congress and a normal class is that when a judge has to pick his/her top 10 cats for the final, (s)he will only be choosing from the subset of cats. i.e. all the cats in a Bengal congress final will be Bengals. All the cats in a female congress final will be female etc…

Hope that helps :D

Heidi can I just ask you about how the congress ring works?

Do the placings in the congress final count for title claims?
Never been to a show with a congress so have no idea how it all works. Thanks x

Hiya,

Yes the congress finals do count towards titles but they don’t count towards the International/Regional wins (the points that give you an International or Regional title). Most owners of “Supreme” titled cats bow-out of the congresses as their cats have nothing to gain…a bit like at GCCF shows in that most people wouldn’t put an Imperial Grand Champion in the Open class.

By default, if your cat meets the criteria for a congress class it is automatically entered into that class. If you don’t want to enter it you can either say so on the entry form or you can pull your cat from class once you’re at the show.
