This is probably a bit of a stupid question but i just wondered if you are allowed to visit shows when you aren't showing..??

I was thinking of popping to the Tica show at Coventry today to have a look around and see if i recognise any faces...

Yes you can go to shows as a visitor :)
GCCF is open to the public normally from about 1pm until the close of the show, TICA and FIFE are open all day to the public (I think!)

I went to a local show here as a visitor. It was open to the public from midday after they had finsished judging. Everyone was happy to talk about their cats - I got a very friendly response.

Like Kimberly says - Go for it :)

Well, we went and had a good time.

I have been to the supreme cat show but that is very different. This was our first time at a normal cat show.

We weren't too sure what was going on but found it quite interesting. I'm sure i saw some names i recognised but i didn't talk to anyone... i'm a bit shy and just never found the right time to say anything...

So, if anyone saw a couple wondering around that didn't seem to have a cat there it was probably us. I use a walking stick.

We didn't walk much as it was fairly small (compared to the supreme show). And i sat and watched the judging take place. I do suffer lots of aches and pains due to my MS so i kind of carry on otherwise i wouldn't do anything....

Are the GCCF different shows in style to TICA ones...?

yep...in the GCCF ones, the cats stay in their own pen all day while the different judges come round & judge them at their pens. the cats all have to be anonymous, so no fancy curtains or anything to give away who they might be, everything in the pen must be show-standard white.
the first round of judging is done without any owners or spectators in the hall, just the judges & stewards. this is the main class where you compete for titles, then they let everyone back in & judge the side classes in which there are no titles, just a chance to gain rosettes & different judges' opinions on your cats.
completely different style with a completely different scoring system, also a lot more formal than the TICA ones.
