The breeder I got Zachary from has never shown any of her cats, she purchased her male and females from a breeder specifically for breeding only. My little Zachary is so wonderful looking, she told me she did not really know alot about showing bengals. How can I find out if he is show quality, maybe I am just biased because i love him so, she did tell me that his ears may be a little to big. He is 16 weeks old.

his ears look a little large at the mo, but it's a delicate subject with bengals. i've seen some with HUGE ears in the show ring that have won rosettes. also, they go through different growth spurts, so he may well grow into those ears as the rest of him catches up.

the best way to know if they are show quality is to take the plunge & enter one. go just for fun with no expectations & you may be pleasantly surprised. it's also a good opportunity to compare him to others.

the most important thing is temperament, as unfortunately there is still a lot of prejudice towards the bengals' wild ancestry in the show world. again, you won't know whether his temperament is good enough for showing until you go to one...they can change so much in the show environment as it is so different for them.

I'd say do it if you really want to. He does have lovely markings!

There are breeders out there who don't show, but that's not because their cats aren't quality, but often because the show circuit/environment doesn't suit them. Don't let that stop you.

He is a very beautiful boy!! One thing you have to look at is whether or not the breeder gave you rights to show on his registration. If you are unsure, I would ask her. I would hate to see you pay the registration fees and purchase a lot of stuff for showing, and not be able to.

Thank you very much. Luckily a very good friend of mine is the breeder and she said if i wanted show him I could and I got the kittens for a very good deal from her because she just did not have the time for them anymore, she lost a very dear family member. She let me have any kitten in the litter for free and then decided to go back and buy another. The paperwork has been ordered does it need to specify he is allowed to be shown?

i think with TICA registration, it is only specified when they are not to be shown, then it is written on the registration. if it isn't written there, then they are showable. but if your breeder would be happy for you to show, i doubt she would have had them marked "not for showing", so you should be fine.
