I was wondering if people with show experiance thought Honey would meet the standard of other cats at shows? either TICA BCC. Her papers from the breeder say she is available for showing so im assuming this means the breeder thinks she has the right qualities??

Ask the breeder - when breeders TICA register they have to physically tick the box that ways NOT FOR SHOW - some will not tick it and some will. But your breeder will know - no one can tell you here as we cannot feel the tail, see her profile, check her bite, check for lockets etc

go along to one of the shows in your area and look to see the types that are winning and see if you think she could stand up to the competition if you feel she as no defects

please dont put your cat through the torture of shows etc.
Let her be a happy cat who is enjoying her cat life rather than sit in the cage for hours with lot of people looking at her like an exhibit.
I never understood the purpose of the shows for cats. Who are these people and cats who actually enjoy any of it??
thats my opinion , anyway .

Cat shows are a great medium for people to go and meet breeders, learn about different breeds - get to see them all first hand.

To make a sweeping statement about something you have never even experienced yourself is unfair to those that not only breed and show but have it purely as a hobby.

If you went to one you may well see cats having the time of their lives, playing with the judges enjoying fuss and attention from people - you might also see shy cats that actually are helped by the shows to gain confidence.

I have a girl - she came to me at 5 months old, frightened of her own shadow if I'm being honest - and would shake if you even went to touch her head. She is shown as an Alter (neutered) and is now a completely different cat. She loves to go to the shows - she spends her time in her pen (when she isn't fast asleep) purring, padding, head butting me and loving every minute of the attention she gets.

A friend of mine - who bought two boys from me as show cats recently told me a story of how they took their BSH cat out to a show - the Bengal boys both found and jumped in their carriers waiting to be taken and were most put out they didn't go, to the point they ignored her for the whole of the next day

Sure there are some cats that don't like it and don't suit it - and if they don't then they shouldn't be taken again as its not fair on them, but the majority love it - and we all know if a cat esp a Bengal doesn't like something they tell you

So please don't be too quick to judge.

Hi Laurel,
I am not a breeder, my hobby is showing Bengal cats and I’m rather surprised that you have such negative opinions about something you obviously know nothing about.
I adore cats and have found a wonderful way to enjoy my feline friends while at the same time combining it with socialising and meeting like-minded people.
I showed Ziggi for nine years. He loved showing and loved the attention he received from his visitors. Some visitors even came to the show especially to see him – he was one of the best known show Bengals in the country, and people still think of him fondly.
Zsami is my current show cat who also loves the show scene, just as Ziggi did. When we arrive at a show he walks out of his carrier, stretches and then jumps up unaided into his show pen. Whilst there I often leave his pen door open during the day, as I know he won’t bother to jump out, after all, why would he when he’s perfectly happy in his pen. I invite people to stroke him and make a fuss of him, which he loves.
Here is the first part of his last show report from the Westcountry CC show from GCCF Judge, Mrs Gregory that was published on the GCCF website last week: -
‘A handsome Bengal with a friendly relaxed temperament who enjoyed meeting his judge and showing off!’
Why don’t you have a look at the reports on the GCCF website and look at the judges comments about temperament and the general attitude of the cats. I’m sure you will be surprised at the amount of cats that obviously enjoy their day out – and for a lot of cats it really is a welcome day out.
If a cat or kitten behaves badly at a show or obviously doesn’t enjoy it, then the owner wouldn’t bother showing it again. For a breeder it is bad publicity, as a show hall is a shop window. For a shower like me, it is just a case of there being no pleasure in showing a cat that obviously doesn’t want to be there. If Zsami ever goes off showing then he will be retired.
Go to a cat show Laurel, see how relaxed the cats are, see the cats enjoying being made a fuss of. Then, and only then, come back and give us your INFORMED opinion!
Annie

Tbf you say 'it is my opinion dont try to change what i think' but your first post was you asking me not to show my cat, in which trying to change my opinion lol.

But iv done this before and still probably do so dont worry, and thank you for being concerned for my cat :D

Iv never ever been to a show yet, im hoping to go with my breeder, Honey doesnt have any defects and iv read over the standard so many times and when im reading in my head im going 'honeys got that' 'she got that too' 'oo yh that sounds just like honey' she meets everything as far as im aware :)

Hopefully if i do get to show her il take lots of pics and share my experiance with you laurel, never know i might end up finding it caotic like you said. But from what iv seen you dont have to keep your cat in the cage if they are calm enough to come out. If it made Honey stressed though i would never take her again obv x x

Oh brill - I'm sure you will love it - and if not just chalk it down to experience lol.

That's great your breeder is going to help you (she is a lovely lady I've chatted with at a few shows now  :D )

- Hopefully our paths will cross at one. Let me know when and if you do decide which one you will be at so I can come find you and say hello :)

Sorry, Binx_Bengal_Mummy. I got rather caught up in the negative comment there.
He looks really nice and its obvious that his breeder would be proud to see him on the show bench.
The Bengal CC is affiliated to the GCCF, so to show him at that show he would have to be registered with the GCCF. If he is registered only with Tica then you can either just show him with Tica or register him with the GCCF if you want to show with that registry as well, or Fife, which is the third registry.
