I have a young melanistic female cat and my purpose is to breed with her.Yes, I know that black bengals are. Not yet accepted to TICA Or FIfe but possibly, I hope, one day they are. And in any case beauty is not up to associations:) As for breeding Of course I would like to find her a quality male Bengal who carries this melanistic gene. But because in my home country there are not many black bengals it is difficult to find a proper stud for her, or is it common to carry this special gene?

I just want to share new photos of my melanistic girl: she is getting 6 months this week, so big girl already, her spots you can see only in very good light, easier from stomach side; but she is still growing of course. I just wonder how common melanistic bengals are in general? They have also some special beauty (black with bright yellow eyes, looks like a prototype of jungle cat in a dark jungle with shine eyes:) like other color bengals too. I know that it's not yet accepted color in TICA or FIFE but maybe one day because you really can see those in nature too (black panthers).

She's gorgeous. My Merlin is 8 months old now and his spots are only visible in strong sunlight but as they've faded he has developed the most gloriously shiny coat. I think the mellies have a very special beauty all of their own.
