Hay everyone!

Well the rotating was going well all up until just now, mum got a little upset as the babies I swapped wouldnt stop mewing in their little place!

Mum came over and was going to lift them out... but the other kittens mewd so she went back to them!

Well I said back, they are next to eachother!

so I gave her the other kittens and she settled instantly and purred!

Should I just leave them to it now & keep a eye on them & I have kitten milk ready to go & bottles if they need any help!

They were rotated every hour (YES!!) from midday yestrday - just now so all have had a good drink!!

Just weighed them all, all have gained or slighty lost, one little girl is 80grams now? I am sure she was 93 yesterday, but with so many I cant remember!

Should I be worried about that or is that normal?

Oh this is mums 3rd litter, she has had 5 & 6 babies before, although I didnt own her then, both times she did it all herself & was a good mummy.

She makes me very proud of her!

do you think you should ring the vet for advice?

Erm, not really why? Thats why I asked on here for advice form other Bengal breeders who have been in the same situation.

the kittens & mum are doing really well they arent ill so I dont think I need to call a vet I just need a little advice as this is my first litter.

only way to learn is to ask questions!

I have had a few litters of 8+ kittens.
I leave them with Mum and supplement them all twice a day; once in the morning and once in the evening.
Obviously you need to keep a very close eye on all of the babies but supplementing them will ensure that they all remain at a healthy weight and that they have the strength to suckle.
If one or more of the babies isn't suckling enough then supplement more often and use a vitamin supplement too such as nutridrops. Make sure that all of the babies are kept warm.

I should say also that I always supplement kittens if there is more than 4 in a litter, just to make sure that they are all receiving the right amount of nourishment. This has always worked for me anyway.

I tend to weigh them all daily for a while and take a note of their individual weights, that way you will know who is losing and not getting enough. Losing weight is not good, OK a few grams here and there but you need to keep a close eye. 13g sounds a large weight loss.
Once they start not getting enough, they quickly get dehydrated and stop feeding altogether.
Weighing them will give you more of an idea of who is who also, as you soon see things to identify them with and call them appropriate names.

As Tally says and Linda on another thread you will need to supplement

with my recent litter of 8, i found looking for a marking or pattern that made them differant from the others and marking them down, and the weighing them to the list i had of markings helped keep me in check on who was who and what weight they were.

13g is a big loss but you could have got the kittens mixed up, you can buy small tags online that are like a paper rings maybe you could get some and put them around their leg with something written on so you know who is who.

We also like Tally we top up our kittens specialy when there is more than 4 to 5 just to make sure they are getting a little extra as somtimes in larger litters one will be a piggy and get lots and the not so piggy ones will get left out.

As i said in my previous post I would not take kittens away from mum unless topping them up, if you are un sure on how to do this your vet would be able to show you or a breeder friend who lives close by maybe?

The biggest thing to remember is weigh at the same times daily don't weigh at 9pm and then the next day at 5pm as you wont get a true amount of who much they are gaining in a 24 hour period, your looking for a weight gain of 8 to 10g per 24 hours at least thats how I work it but others may be differant.

Hiya thanks everyone for the advice!

I have left them all with mum, I weighed them all after one & other yesterday so I could have miss took it it may have been 83? I really cant rem as it was all so quick!

Yes I have noticed difference in 4 of them so I know them all by sight now!

I have bought some little tags ill put them on when they are a little bigger I think!

I am going to get the milk ready at around 9ish & I am just going to buy some nutri drops!

Mum is very happy, even came downstairs for the loo (she has one the in her room but I dont think she wanted to go near the babes! )

shes been to the loo & had some food & even managed her favorite treat! I have just been lying next to her and shes been purring like mad, the babies are so funny to watch, mewing & fighting over mum!
One of them hatched a clever plan and went Over mum for the nipple and he got it!! The others all go under!

I have taken a video, just trying to workout how to upload it!

LOL I have noticed who is 'piggy'!!! some of them really push the others out of the way! The snow boy is going to be big, his sucha little pudding!
