Hi Lyndaz,
Welcome.
I just don't know why anyone would want to keep the pedigrees of their cats a secret or not give out the full pedigree name of their cats or at least the parents on their websites. Just some clue would be nice. I don't want 6 gen full pedigrees, I am quite capable of sussing that out anyway. I just feel it is necessary to know which cats/lines I am enquiring about, if for instance I wish to acquire a kitten. I do not want to be in a position where I am enquiring after a line that personally I do not want to be involved with as they are perhaps too closely related to my own cats or I am unsure of the lines for one reason or another. It is much easier just to click away from a web page as opposed to getting involved in discussions with a breeder as to why I am very interested in their kitten, only to quickly turn it down, once I know its full pedigree. Embarrassing.
On the other hand, I may in fact be so impressed by the pedigree of a cat on a breeder's website, that I want to tap into that line and put a deposit down for the next litter, I cannot do that if I do not know it.
I thought the whole point of having pedigree cats on a web page is about advertising the fact that they are pedigree animals and having the "pedigree" shown to back that up. The difference between a moggie and a pedigree cat is the "pedigree".
Genetics are very important. If your cats are well bred then why not advertise the fact?
So what are your reasons for not showing your cat's pedigree names, parents and pedigrees on your site? I would be very interested to hear the opposite point of view.
