Last month I bought a beautiful Bengal boy, he's 5 months old and neutered with No papers.
I purchased him from a lady desperately wanting him gone due to his "destructive ways" I had previously done a lot of homework on bengals and the Savannah.
I saw him and immediately took him, being a soft touch for them and also having a fear he would be passed around home to home.
So we took him and adore him, named him Frank, he plays for hours with my seven year old son.
We have harness trained him, he loves walking out twice a day and climbing trees on his harness.
and has not been destructive once, So, I thought I'd try and find out Frank's breeder details from the previous owner so I could gather up some background info and also let the breeder know how his doing,
I ask the previous owner, who tells me she's forgotten, she got Frank online and has lost the details haha!
For some reason she's witholding this information.

After a week of searching and pestering she has given me the breeder name only.
After speaking to pet plan, I know have the breeder number.

Please can anyone tell me how I use this number to search for breeders? Is there a database?

If anyone can help if be very blooming grateful.

What number do you have for the breeder? A phone number? A registration number? You can put the name and number in Google and see what pops up. I am happy to hear that Frank is doing very well with you. As you've discovered, bengals require a lot more care and attention than your regular cat. Outdoor walks are wonderful for the kitty and exercise for you. Mine gets two walks a day as well. It absolutely helps prevent destructive behavior.

This sounds like a backyard breeder to me. There is not one specific breeder database and a BYB would not be listed. If they are a reputable breeder, TICA may have their name. There are other organizations as well. You'll just have to do a search.

I'm not really sure why you'd want to contact the breeder. It's obvious they did not care for the cat or want to take the time to work with the behavior -- I'd just let it go and be thankful Frank is a great kitty for you.

I have my kittens breeder reg number.
I guess I wanted to know his background due to how wonderful he has become, how quickly he trains, so I was intrigued to know his Sire and Dam, possibly hoping he was from a reputable breeder who wanted to know his whereabouts and how he is getting on.
I think you're right regarding a byb, so I'll leave it and enjoy the happiness he's bringing to the family.

Just to add something here ... if you were to contact the breeder with such good news about the change in behavior, I'm sure the breeder would use it to their advantage if they tried to sell another cat with a similar behavior. They were up front with you, but at least they did not come back with, "but, we had another cat like this and the owner states this cat is wonderful and the bad behavior is gone." Not everyone is prepared to take the time, as you have, to help the troubled kitty. So, congratulations on your success!!!!

Sorry it's probably the way I've worded my message,
I got Frank from a lady who purchased him from the breeder and this lady said he was extremely destructive and so she sold him after a month.
So I've not had any contact with the breeder or know the breeders whereabouts sadly.

But I've kind of given up searching for the breeder and will just appreciate the cat for himself

So we will blame an irresponsible owner who probably paid little attention to Frank. Bengals demand attention and if they don't get it, they will get destructive! Thankfully, you spend a lot of time with Frank and things have worked out. It's possible no cat could make this previous owner happy.

It's sad really but it has made for a happy ending.
I imagine I'll be on the forums a fair bit,

It sounds like the breeder provided the lady you got Frank from, with the free one months pet insurance from pet plan. To me, I'm guessing in that case, the breeder is legit. I am wondering if the lady who initially bought Frank is in breach of contract as I know on my contract, that if for any reason I can no longer keep my boys, I go back to the breeder first for them to rehome.

When I met my breeder, she said it was a very small world in the Bengal breeder world and they all know each other. Have you tried contacting any breeder at all in your area, and asking them if they can help?

He did have one months free petplan insurance, that's how I managed to get his breeder reg number, That makes sense, we use to do that with horses in the contract that we would have first refusal.
A breeder called Chris has been very helpful by giving advice on tracing. I have got a name and the area of Kent but she seems invisible.
I wonder why the previous owner didn't go to the breeder.

The contract for my Raiden stated the breeder had first rights to the kitten. Well, 6 years later, I took Raiden and the breeder was no longer breeding! Many people don't read the contract. Or they don't want to admit to the breeder it was not a good fit with the cat. TICA has a long list of breeders so I don't think their breeding world is THAT small! But .... just goes to show that environment is everything to the cat. A good environment will make for a good kitty.
