Hi everyone. I own an F2 female Bengal. I have a friend with a pair of ALC's. He's been throwing the idea of breeding his male to my Bengal. Thay are not related in the least. She's been bred before but to a bengal male, not ALC. Her pregnancy and litter were as smooth as can be.

Any and all experiences/advice is welcome.

An F2 bred to an ALC will produce cats that are what are called high grade early generations (EG) hybrids. The % of ALC blood is going to be very high. F2 - 25% to ALC - 100% = 62.5% ALC which is higher than your average F1.
Of course such animals are going to be very close to the ALC in behaviour.
They will not be suitable as pets, apart from for some very, very experienced people.
There may be some trade in females for breeding, but the males are the problem.
Not everyone is prepared to take on such specialist pets long term.
Well raised kittens are usually even tempered but once they grow up then EG behaviour can be extremely challenging and you need to be very careful as to the homes you give them to. How would you cope with such males if you cannot sell them or if they come back to you? Bonded EGs can be difficult to settle and rehome.
Some breeders have been known to kill such males at birth, as they know the trouble they can cause. Selling females to other breeders is a far more lucrative exercise and there is a lot less hassle as the breeding females are caged or in enclosures and are not really pets.

TusaraTiramisu, you are correct, an F2 is an EG hybrid and not a Bengal. A Bengal is a cat that is > F4 generation.

Wow I will be the one to say, do not do that!
I only see a litter with eg cats being successful with someone that has had YEARS of experience breeding EG cats! Thereare so many things that can go wrong with an SBT breeding and the problems can easily double when you have an eg litter. Not only will you be dealing with an eg mom but high percentage kittens that will have to have human imprint on them from day one! That means taking them from their mother at three weeks, hand feeding them (which canbe difficult) every 1-2 hours until they are weaned. Thats a lot of work!!!! And those measures will only be taken to decrease, not eliminate, the chances that the cat will not be completely miserable around humans! Don't get me wrong I love eg cats and would probably have one if I didn't have children, BUT breeding and socializing these cats should be left to experts! IMO you are extremely lucky that her pregnancy and delivery went well the first time! You have already had a litter of F3's take that workload and multiply it by ten, are you ready for that?

Before overreactions kick in...It seems there are a few assumptions being made here. Given the lack of initial info given, Ill attribute it to that. Firstly, the F2 female inquired about (Ms.Kitty Fantastico), is not my newly acquired Wonder Woman. SO no, I am not inquiring about breeding WW to an ALC. To further elaborate, Ms Kitty basically grew up around the ALC's, as we have frequently cared for each others cats if stepping away from home (as well as 'play dates') Which btw, is why I initially acquired my Class 3 Permit. It would not be a forced/aggression scenario as they get along just fine. So much so in fact that she is now living with my friend without issue.

As for my background with Bengals - Ive had 2 Bengals prior to WW. Ms Kitty Fantastico, and an SBT Male rescue (Volt as in Voltaire). I've primarily gained my experience not at home but working through Exotic Animal locales, which is how I obtained Volt prior to finding him a suitable family. I'm very well aware of the dedication and investment required in raising a kittens. My question was intended as an inquiry into your experiences, if any, with breeding EG's back to ALC, and what were lessons gleaned.
