Just wondering... what kind of domestic cat are ALC's bred with? Or does it vary (I suppose)?

Would like to know where my baby is from (apart from ALC). Breeder the best person to ask?

In the early days of the Bengal breed many different domestic breeds were used to bring in different traits, your breeder may be able to tell you which ones are in your kittens ancestry if they have pedigree details for their cats that go back far enough. No out-crosses are allowed in the breed now so even the F1 Bengals are bred using Bengal queens and Asian Leopard cat Studs.

I'm not up to date with current silver lines sorry, was referring more to the brown/snows as the op's kitten is brown.

I've got Egyptian Mau's & Abyssinian's in my pedigrees at the start - Ive got two F7's, one F8 and one F10 and not sure of the other one but I expect him to be F7/F8

I must say I hadn't been aware of the AON, BON & CON til around a year ago but learnt a lot recently from reading post on FB groups about it all.....its interesting.

I should look more into this, as I'm very interested in my kittens pedigree. Any particular groups you like for this kind of stuff Claire?

Eypytian maus, ocicats, indian street cats, moggies, abbys, siamese, burmese, some lines even contain a persian!!

google, bengalpedigrees can find out loads of stuff

I asked a Bengal breeder friend who gave me loads of information here is what I got from my first queen..

'Poppy is an F10 Bengal which means she is 10 pedigree generations away from the nearest ALC. She is 8 generations away from the nearest 'other breed' ie not a ALC or Bengal: Millwood Tory of Delhi, Rendale Tawny Girl (Ocicat) Rameses Cheops (E.Mau)'

How cool is that - she has an extensive database - but like Taylorbaby said you can search Bengalpedigrees.com - you can upload your cats pedigrees if they aren't already in there (chances are mother and father might be) then you can trace each line back and even see what ALC your cats come from
