Is it possible if I breed a Serval to a bengal To get a F1 Savannah & Than breed that F1 to a Bengal stud so I can introduce the ocelli markings?

From what I know the F1-poss to some F3 do tend to keep theirs but it fades the later you get, so I dont see the point? and it wouldnt be a bengal then... :?: My bengal kittens had them when they were born but they just fade as they get older, doing one breeding for this is my guess they would again fade!

Taylorbaby, I agree, I have never seen an SBT cat with ocelli.
Like you, only on kittens and they rapidly fade away.

Asian Leopard cats also have great ocelli, so what is the point of mixing Servals into the mix?

I want the SBT bengals to have Ocelli markings . So they can look really Exotic. Since savannahs don't really lose there Ocelli, I want to use the Serval & breed it 4 generations away from the serval. So the hybrid is going to breed with only bengal males. I hope they don't lose there ocelli markings .

Are you certain that Savannahs don't lose their ocelli by F4->

I am not an expert but I have never seen an F4 or later with ocelli and I know a breeder that is close to me that breeds Savannah cats mostly EG's and she said that its almost impossible for them to have ocelli as an F3 they loose it just as Bengals do. I do know however that Bengals arebeing breed with Savannahs to get a better marking throughout the body. They are getting more rosettes in some lines rather than the spotting of a Serval. Which to me is still a little crazy if you want a cat that looks like an ALC get a Bengal if you want a cat that looks like a Serval get a Savannah. I dont think its very wise to breed the two together! Honestly I think its just asking for a mess and introducing more health issues into both breeds.

Just looked at a few pics of F4 savs and none had any oceli on the ears, as said the ALC have them but it fades out the nearer you get to sbt, I guess it would be same in the sav (from what I have seen, albeit a quick google search!!)

BK - What breeders are crossing them? Is it for a sav or bengal program? I cant see the point for a bengal program they have different temps looks build, just doesnt seem right?

To be honest I think they look pretty exotic as they are without some marking on the ear, the rosettes define them away from any other breed as it is! Id rather a good rosetted body! :D

I agree that th rosettes are more defining than anything with a Bengal and to be honest that is what intially drew me to the breed , the personality is just a huge bonus! I have done some research on the subject and found a cattery that breeds both Savannahs and Bengals as well as a Habari , Safari and Jambi cats , and its Select Exoctics. They have created the Habari if I am not mistaken and its a cross between all of the breeds. If you look on their site you can clearly see that even their early generation Savannahs have quite defined rosttes! Keep in mind while browsing their later generation kittens have very faint ocelli and I would assume they will fade out like an SBT. BB is an F8 and she had the same faint ocelli markings that faded before she was 3 -4 months old. Also I honestly think their F3 Savannahs look more Bengal then Savannah and I also noticed they have several marbles and melanisics.

Ahhh the 20k rare cross kitten! I dont think its rare it just a cross! Savs shouldnt have rosettes they should look like a servel which is spotted? At least thats what I always though? I dont think that would add to a breeding program for me. I also dislike pre-birth deposits, like tempting fate for me :(

To be honest I dont think the world needs more wild cat crosses, alot of people just seem to see 'rare' and '££' signs sadly :(

Not to mention you will have to consider the gestation period of both the serval and an alc I would imagine they differ greatly and therefore the mother would possibly give birth to early and the kittens will be stillborn. From my understanding that is a problem already within the Savannah breed!!
