Hi everyone,

I have two bengals, Holly (11 months) and Simon (10 months). They both seem to be full grown now and they both eat a lot. They eat raw, and between the two of them, they eat between 3/4 and 1 full lb. of meat a day. He eats a bit more than she does, but they basically eat about the same amount of food every day. She is very dainty and he is more solid. They are both healthy and active.

The quantity of food they eat is more than i expected it to be. Can I expect that their appetites will slow down as they become adults (i heard they sometimes eat less starting around 18 months)? Or is this quantity of raw food typical for an adult bengal cat?

Thanks :),
~Liz

Bengals are not full grown until about 18 months. The amount of food my bengal eats varies daily. Somedays he will go through several cans of wet food. Other days, just a couple. You still have "kittens" and they should eat about as much as they want. Most cats know when to walk away from the bowl.

My boy is almost 5 years old. He has always eaten an entirely raw diet. Until he was about a year old, he would eat up to 1 lb a day, especially during growth spurts. That slowed down and now he usually eats 8 - 10 ounces daily.

Mine are seven and five years old. They get 2/3 c of Blue Freedom indoor dry food a day (half in the morning, half at night) each. And about 1/3 of a chicken breast, diced up and mixed with Kitty Bloom on the morning and at night. Maxwell eats more chicken than Faust, who prefers the dry. There's definitely been a decrease in appetite when we switched from canned food to raw chicken. Max has IBS and respiratory issues and meds also affect his aooetite. He's a fat ass at almost 19 lbs and turning six in July. Faust is more of a tank, with a wide chest and shorter legs. He's 14 lbs and eight in June.
