For those of you who feed your furballs meowing heads, they are introducing tins instead of the pots (wet food). Be warned! The tins have an apparently 'new and improved recipe'. My two won't touch it! It is very clearly different - the colour, texture - even I noticed as soon as I opened a tin. Eventually the pots will be phased out and these are still on the old recipe and then it will be tins only, using the new recipe.

Bit of a pain as I'll have to go through the rigmarole of finding them something else when I can't get the pots anymore....

I was able to return the tins to Pets At Home which was something I guess. I tried mixing the contents of the tins with the pots but even though I was only mixing in a small amount, they wouldn't touch it

Anyway, just thought I'd give you all the heads up!

Why they've 'fixed' something that wasn't broken is beyond me!

Aargh! Mystifying as to why they'd change the recipe. Maybe something to do with the different needs of canning versus pots? But then why not just stick with pots...

Their dry Hey Good Looking is actually looking promising for my cat, making me think it was the potato in the other grain frees that was the problem. I was actually thinking of emailing Meowing Heads to say, please don't change the ingredients, as so many grain free foods including their own fish option do have potato. Now I will definitely contact them to plead the case!

I am dealing with a similar issue with Koha (formerly known as Mauri). They are one of the few single protein premium wet foods available and they are moving production from New Zealand to the US for better quality control and at the same time changing the recipe that my cats love to a pate or stew variety only available in 5.5 ounce cans. I would need 3.5 cats for that big of a can. My cats refuse refrigerated left overs, at least Blondie does. So that would mean Grace would eat her share every other meal and get even bigger. I need a 3 ounce venison only quality food. I will order one they used to reluctantly eat with green pea. I hate to stop buying their favorite food for this reason.

I just had some food go from chunks to pate. Raiden seems to like it better than the chunks, but the moggie won't touch it!

Just thought I'd update this to add that I heard back from the company that makes the Meowing Heads range. They say that the Hey Good Looking dry food recipe "will not be changing in the future". That's a fairly categorical statement, so sounds good.

It has proven to suit my cat really well, so I can finally stop looking!

Thanks for the update, Skyblue. That is a relief, Jagger will be disappointed enough when the tins completely replace the pots and the new wet food recipe is the only thing available. He loves the dry food as well and I managed to stop looking when I found that.

I believe I have found another food which I can switch my two over to once I can't get the wet anymore. Little Big Paw has almost identical ingredients. So I ordered some and now Hendrix's tummy seems ok, thought it was time to try them with it.

They loved it. It pretty much looks exactly the same, maybe a bit more 'juice/sauce' but they love the sauce, they don't like jelly which I think is why they don't like the tins/improved recipe of Meowing Heads. Jagger's plate was completely licked clean.

I haven't managed to find a place I can get it from at discount, and at the moment I'm bulk ordering the meowing heads wet while its still available and when its on offer. But feel happier now that I have found a pretty much identical replacement for them.

So if there is anyone else in my shoes, I thought I'd pass on the happy news that there is something out there that can replace it!

Here's hoping for no more upset tummy!!! When I've tried to introduce a new type of food -- such as Tuna (because Raiden never liked seafood), he ended up devouring it. I buy a case of it and now he's "so so" with it. Same with Salmon. He inhaled the can. Now ... most of it sits in the bowl. I just give up! I purchased several lids so now I give him a tablespoon full and if he eats that, I'm lucky. He's a grazer and eats about 8 times a day. Hope this food continues to fulfill Hendrix and Jagger.
