Sheena weighs about 14 pounds - she's a big girl. If I free-fed her, she'd be a whale. I try to monitor her food intake - she gets a half can in the a.m., a 1/4 can around 3:00, a 1/4 can early evening, and a 1/2 pouch before bedtime. In between she haunts me for food, so I give her a couple of Temptations or a few pieces of freeze dried chicken. It comes to about 230 calories a day. She prefers dry over wet, and I do substitute 1/4 of Orijen once in a while, but she practically inhales it, so I try to give her mostly wet food. She's just always hungry. Does anyone else have an insatiable cat??

Mine are 14 and 16 pounds and never seem to be full either. I dont really monitor how much I feed them, because I'm not worried about their weight, but I cant ever imagine them turning their nose up at food! They have constant dry food down, wet maybe 4-5 times a day and at least 2-3 rounds of treats. There are times where I have literally just fed them and they are round me again, so I check their bowls and you would never guess there had ever been any food in them they are so clean!

Mine are 10 and 14 pounds. They are always hungry. They have always been this way. They split a 3 oz can of high quality wet food twice a day. They also share 1/3 cup of dry food in the late morning and 1/4 cup of dry in the late evening.

CMY..... Yours split a 3 oz can? Mine split a 6oz can in the morning and a 5.5 oz can later in the day, along with 1.5 oz each of a 3 oz pouch. They also get a few treats. Do you suppose I'm over feeding them? They are never satisfied!

Ours were completely insatiable until we switched to raw chicken instead of canned food. They get about 4T of minced raw chicken breast, tenderloin, or cutlet in the morning mixed with 1/4 t of Kitty Bloom vitamins and 1/3c Blue Freedom indoor split between the two. Morning and evening. They get 1/3c dry split between the two at lunchtimeish and again before we go to bed. They FINALLY have stopped freaking out over food. We're going to increase the amount of chicken once we move. There was a bout of vomiting for a week as one brand of chicken didn't agree with them. First time they've had under-control appetites and poops.

I free feed mine, Magic is 17 pounds, he's a big boy but not fat ( his dad was huge), not sure what Pearl weighs but she's only 8 months old and seems to burn off all her energy zooming around chasing Magic, but she is quite lean at the moment but eats like a horse.

I leave down dry all the time, they have 3/4 100g pouches between them most days plus treats and some cooked turkey.

If I leave dry food down all day, my Bengal will eat it all and my poor other cat will have nothing. She does seem bored with life, though. I'm getting another kitten in a month, so maybe this will give her something to do and she will forget about food for a while.

Magic was a bit like this until young Pearl came along a few months ago.

Magic is very energetic now as him and Pearl chase each other all the time, he is more muscley now.

They both tend to nibble at their dry food.

Raiden is a lightweight compared to everyone else's here. He's 12.4 pounds and the highest he's weighed is jus over 13 pounds. The vet says he is at a perfect weight. He does not have a huge appetite! Grazes at the bowl all day long. And, if it is empty, he comes and lets me know it! I usually only give him 1/2 of a 3 oz. can of food at a time. He may inhale it and want more, but if I put the entire can in the bowl, he walks away and it eventually will dry out and I'll toss it.

I can't imagine what it is like having a kitty that is hungry all the time. Sounds like ME!!!! LOL. For a female, 16 pounds is a lot. But, she just may be big boned (it works for humans, doesn't it? )

Raiden is an older bengal is he Sherry? Maybe mine will calm down a bit when they have a few years under their belt! A box of food lasts like 2 days at the minute so that would be great!

Raiden turned 9 in March! I don't know that he's ever been a larger cat since he was a free roaming kitty for the first 6 years of his life. He did get to over 13 pounds earlier when he came to live with us -- and that may have been because we were now walking with a harness and leash and he was not going too far -- sitting most of the time. I weigh him every couple of months just to monitor is weight. He doesn't eat much at a sitting but will eat multiple times during the day.

Quasar is also only just over 12 lbs. He is long, lean and muscular and definitely not food motivated. He eats raw food, as much as he wants. When I am home, I always add some to his dish when I see that it is empty. He averages around 6-8 oz/day of raw duck diet.
