Hi, everyone gave me such a lot of great advice last time and I am now asking for help again!
My young 12 week old female has stopped eating and has no interest at all. She has now started to lose weight. She is lively enough and plays with the older cat. When not playing she needs attention and lots of love ing, which is given in abundance. The vet said they will monitor her weight but in the mean time I need some suggestions. She is quite young for her actual age which make us a bit concerned (we have had since she was aledgedly 8 weeks) I have ensured her food is really mashed up and I have changed the times to be closer together, I have fed her away from the cat and with him. I am about to embark on a further search for enticing goods. Any advice, thoughts and ideas will be more than welcome. Thanks

I'm very worried about your kitty  It's a bit scary that your vet isn't helping more.

I would probably try tuna for right now, because it is fragrant and delicious for most kitties. Note though that's it's not an appropriate staple for cats long-term.

Thank you, my husband suggested tuna this morning, would you use fresh or tinned?

Human tuna is dangerous for cats as it depletes the body of vitamin E which causes yellow fat disease, this is extremely dangerous and painful for the cat.
I give Mine Encore tuna for cats it comes with various other fish in with it, it's especially for cats and all natural.

Bit shocked your vet isn't more helpful.

Have you tried applaws wet food? They do tuna flavour and should be safe for your kitten. It isn't a complete food but anything is better than nothing right now. Both my boys love applaws and generally if they are a bit off their food, that will always entice them. Like I said it's not complete only complementary so doesn't have all the nutrients your kitten needs but she needs food of some kind or another.

Or I boil some chicken and shred it for them and give them the broth as well.

Let us know how she goes.

I hope your kitty is eating something. Ask your vet about fatty liver disease, which is fatal. If they don't know what it is, find another vet. When a cat has not eaten in 48 hours, the liver starts to tear down the fat in the body for energy. When my Raiden hasn't eaten in 24 hours, he is at the vet! The vet told me many people wait until it's too late and the cat cannot be saved. Food is super important and you've got to find something. I understand what Brian is saying -- you just want to get food in your cat. Human tuna is not a long-term solution. You got your kitty when it was very, very young -- too young to leave the mother. I would expect some issues based on that. You need to find something your cat will eat. Kittens need to be gaining weight not losing weight. I think time is of the essence here to save your kitten.

 I am so happy, she is finally eating. Contacted vet who confirmed her underdevelopment, I went to our local pet food supplier and was able to talk to someone from iams. They gave me some 'kitten delight' this is very wet and the meat extra tender. It took a couple of tries but once she realised how good it was she ate a third of the sachet without trouble.  Although she is still very immature and slightly underweight I feel the corner has turned. I am very disappointed with her breeder but at least she is on the right road now. Thank you all so so very much for your support it meant a lot.

Glad to hear she is eating! Hopefully, her weight will increase now. It will be slow ... don't expect her to fatten up immediately. Just gaining an ounce or two is great! It shows progress.

Thank you Sherry, I am trying not to get too excited, long way to go. I do hope she keeps it up. It is so nice to see her even slightly interested in food, at least I can now build on that.
Thanks to everyone, all comments have been a real help! I know where to come for advice., :smile1:

We are happy to help out our fellow cat lovers! As long as your baby continues to eat well, she should gain weight.

I just wanted to give all you kind people an update. Today she asked for food (the first ever) and ate 1/3 of a packet, not a huge amount in the scheme of things but a feast in my eyes.

I have slowly hand fed her bit by bit to get her interest and today my efforts have been rewarded, she is also slowly putting on weight, not loads but we can see a difference in her. She has been playing outside in the sunshine chasing moths and butterfly. I am so happy. Thank you for your support :laugh2:

Things are looking up in the weight department. That is great she is wanting to eat. More concerning to me is the "outdoor" issue! Does she has a safe space outdoors so she is not wandering away? Do you supervise her while she is outside? Your kitty is way too young to be allowed outdoors without some type of safety net around her. While she may stick close to home now, that will not be the case as she gets older. And I always fear some flying animal -- hawk, owl -- may swoop down and grab her. A hawk tried to get a 12 pound cat that I take care of -- missed, but still it scared me to death!
