Hi everyone! I have 2 loves in my life, Hunter and Luna. They are both about 7 months of age, Luna being 2 weeks older.

I have had them on Primal freeze-dried raw turkey for 4 months now, they were being having diarrhea with Blue Buffalo and Purina ProPlan wet food. I also incorporated Horizon Legacy dry kibble for them. A month ago, Luna decided she no longer wanted to eat the Horizon kibble, so I switched her to Orijen Cat and Kitten. I did a proportional switch, 90/10 80/20 etc etc. Hunter also joined in, and they both ate it happily.

Last night Luna refused to eat anything, and stared and played with her porcelain fountain most of the time, then threw up water (yes I smelled it) in the litter and on the litter mat. She wasn't/isnt running a high temperature or acting strange otherwise, still alert, but playing a little less. I keep a couple cans of Wellness turkey wet food for these circumstances. Luna still refused to eat, Hunter only eating half of his recommended portion.

-This morning, Luna still didnt eat, I tried a different flavour (chicken) of Primal, and had extra cans of ProPlan that I also offered them. Hunter ate some Wellness, but refused any treats.

-Mid-day, Hunter ate half of a freeze-dried chicken neck we left out for them.

-Tonight, Hunter only eating some ProPlan, Luna didn't eat anything. We offered an assortment of treats, where she chose to pick at some beef lung, then proceeded to puke it out 5 minutes later...

I do not free feed, they get their meals twice a day, about 12 hours apart, with an assortment of treats and play time with Da Bird and other toys during the day. Both are drinking water and urinating fine.

I hope everyone is having a wonderful Christmas today, I have full intention of bringing them to the vet tomorrow for a check up and hopefully get some supplements before they lose too much weight. Any advice would be appreciated :)

Update:

Just purchased some Whiskas Beef, and Salmon meal, the only thing the convenience store carries. Put and waved both in front of her nose, absolutely zero reaction.

Straight to the vet. Could they have eaten something they shouldn't have (it being Christmas etc, tinsel, bows that are on presents etc) as that could be blocking them up making it difficult to eat? Or of course they could be ill. That being said, Christmas is a very stressful time of year with lots of people visiting and could be stressing them out.

Please let us know how they get on.

Yes, as Clare said, straight to the vets. Hopefully they are both either stressed by Christmas and feeling a little off colour rather that eaten something they should not have. My friend has just had to have her cat operated on at the vets as Smudge stopped eating and was just puking up clear vomit. They found a long blade of grass had not gone down but instead gone up and was lodged in throat and nose, so every time poor smudgy tried to eat the gag reflex was triggered and she vomited it all back up. I really hope all goes well and your two are just a little off colour.

Any time a cat doesn't eat, you should be concerned. After 48 hours, the liver starts to break down the fat in the body and it can be fatal. Usually kitties stop eating when they are not feeling well. There are other signs -- it's very apparent in their eyes and their movement. They may vomit or have diarrhea. They are not playful and their energy level has dropped. Those are signs the kitty needs to be taken to the vet ASAP. At least if you find out something is wrong there, you can be relieved! My vet gave me a syringe and sold me some high-calorie cat food and I fed my kitty with the syringe for 24 hours until he started eating on his own. The problem was coccidia (parasite in the intestine). There are finicky cats, no doubt! However, you can usually find something they like to eat. The fact that they both enjoyed the freeze-dried raw turkey means you found something they both would eat. Hunter appears to be eating fine -- it's just Luna!

The vet should run tests, especially on a stool sample) on Luna to see if there is anything going on in the digestive tract. I hope all proves to be well. I have a finicky eater, as well, and it took me a long while to figure out what he would eat. I still buy cans of new types of food and he still turns his nose up, so it's sticking to the tried and true methods -- he gets what he likes to eat.
