Hi, I'm a new to this site and bengals I have a beautiful 15 week old kitten Clara she is a marbled Bengal. We are generally getting on well I'm just reading reading reading to learn as much as possible to ensure we have a happy healthy relationship! Main issue is feeding I've been reading about raw feeding but will need to research this further so at present she is on kitten packet food! She just seems hungry constantly and am wondering if I'm feeding her correct amount or whether I'm grossly under estimating amounts! She currently has 3 packets or tins spread over 3-4 meals with some dried food mixed in ( this is what breeder was doing) I've fed Clara this morning a full pouch of food as she attacked me while feeding so got more than intended and already she thinks it's feeding time again!! Any advice would be great thanks X

First of all, welcome to the forum and congratulations on your bengal. It's good that you are continuing the food the breeder fed her. Know that Clara is growing and needs frequent meals. Most vets recommend you feed her as much as she will eat! She will run off the excess calories with her high-energy antics. A kitten will usually step away from the bowl when they are full! Just know she will want to eat again in a few hours -- think of her as an infant child. They feed every four hours around the clock! A raw diet can be good, but it's not necessary. High quality premium cat food is fine for a cat (or kitten). Raw entails a little bit more work to ensure the kitty gets all the necessary vitamins and nutrients -- which means feeding the kitty the entire chicken, including bones, heart, and liver. Some owners add a nutritional supplement to make sure the taurine is there (which is found in the heart and liver).

You'll be up and down feeding all the time at that age.

I used to feed my kittens 4, 5 or more meals a day and whatever they could eat. I never limited it as they are growing so fast.

It's also not usual for cats to overeat although I did have one cat my lovely Burmese who was a greedy little pig lol and we did have to limit his food but he was a grown adult cat by then.

Thank you so much replies. When I collected her breeder said she feed her twice a day so when I fed her more she still seemed hungry! Maybe I've underfed her then she's having roughly 300gms a day will see how she goes over next few days thanks again x

A kitten's tummy is tiny so they need multiple meals a day. Twice a day simply is not often enough for a little munchkin. No wonder she's crying for food.

Two times a day! No way.

The first week I got my kittens I fed them twice a day because that is how often I fed my last cats. On the third night Grace bit my ankle and drew blood. Then they proceeded to jump up and down on me all night. I found this forum and discovered what was wrong, the were starving!

Bengals seem to have hearty appetites. Raiden eats throughout the day -- a few nibbles here and there until he cleans the bowl.
