Hi everyone! I have 3 bengals, one is 11 years, the other two are 22 weeks old. I was fortunate enough that the kittens came already on the raw diet and the breeder had also been feeding mainstream brand wet food. I soon discovered that neither of them ate the packet food (when you read the ingredients and it says 4% meat I can understand why) so I carried on with the raw food (Purrform rabbit, bone and ox heart) but have also introduced Nature's Best wet food which is a minimum of 70% meat. Anyway, one of my little ones, Mabel, will really only eat the raw/wet food but does snack on dry (Royal Canin, a choice of 4 different biscuits as my girls are spoilt and my older bengal and the big fluffy moggy like different things!) which is fine as I see that as normal car behaviour! Meanwhile the other one, Rosie, won't eat any of the wet food much to Mabels delight as she gets double helpings and just eats dry food all of the time, except for cooked chicken, she loves that! Has anyone else experienced this unusual behaviour? Rosie did eat wet food when she first arrived but as she's grown she's just stopped, she's not under weight and if anything, is bigger and broader than Mabel (they're not from the same litter but were born 2 days apart!). We jokingly call her a vegetarian as she also quite likes stealing baked beans (don't ask!!!! Lucy, our big bengal loves chicken curry). I'm not overly concerned as Rosie is a strong and healthy little nut case, I just wondered if anyone else had encountered this? I wonder if I should try her on the cheap and nasty food again!

When you have multiple kitties and different ages, their nutritional requirements are gong to be quite different. Just as humans like and dislike certain foods, it's the same with cats. My Raiden is super particular about what he eats. I've always had cats that didn't care what you put in front of them -- it was gone. Not Raiden. Now I just feed him turkey and chicken. He will take beef every now and then. You will never get your kitties to like something they don't want to like (try getting your child to eat brussels sprouts or broccoli). You have to feed your kitties what they like to eat -- and unless you come up with the ONE food they all like, you may be feeding them individually.

Thanks Sherry! I effectively already feed the girls individually due to their pickiness, I still put a dish down for Rosie of whatever wet food Mabel is getting but she just doesn't seem interested! I shall persist with trying different meats with her to see if she'll take anything else, she may just prefer something a bit crunching!

Eggman, yes, sorry, it was a bit of a long winded tale just to ask if anyone else has a cat that prefers dry to wet food!

My two cats are pretty good eaters but each has their preference. I know if I put fresh liver down, Blondie won't touch it but Grace will devour it. The same goes for certain texture wet food. They both like dry but Blondie likes it more than Grace. This week I tried a couple of different Mauri canned food: Kangaroo and wild bushtail. They went crazy for them! Now they don't want their usual venison. Food is so important to them you have to expect a little drama from time to time.

When we first got Quasar we gave him a raw diet along with some free-choice Iams hairball formula, provided by his breeder.
He never touched the dry. We ended up giving it to the dog, who eats anything, and have kept him on a raw diet since.
The only dry he ever gets is a few dry duck kibbles, as a treat, or an occasional piece of dog kibble, which he snatches from the her bowl when she is eating.

My two Burmese cats happily ate dry food for years and loved it.

Suddenly they refused to eat it and my elderly Burmese just eats wet food now and won't touch dry. I've tried various brands some very expensive but he refuses to eat it.

The only reason I want him to eat a bit of dry is when I have to stay away from home overnight which doesn't happen often but it would be easier to leave dry food out for him.

I've had cats who only ate dry food and never bought them a can of wet food. Then, I got smart and realized cats do like wet food. Raiden gets wet food throughout the day and always has some dry food out, but it takes him forever to go through a bowl of it.

I have had a cat (not a bengal) that preferred dry food. He refused to touch wet or raw food at all. It was very peculiar, but he liked what he liked... :/ I tried not giving into him, but we didn't want to end up force-feeding up and a cat that won't eat is a very serious thing, even if "only" for a day or two. He wouldn't go for it... so we did our best to work with what we had: Get something high protein, low(er) in carbs, and make sure they drink plenty. Fountains can help with that.

The stray I'm feeding gets grain-free dry food as I have to leave the food out for him since I never know when he will show up. The temps are getting cooler as well and I don't want to keep canned food out there. I will give him a can of wet food (also grain-free) in the morning when he is here waiting to eat and I know he will eat it, but the rest of the day, it's dry food.

Hi guys and thanks for all your responses!!! Celebration, I have found a packet food that Rosie will eat until I can tempt her back on to the raw rabbit! It's made by Evolution Naturally and its 70% duck and chicken or I've also got one that is 70% tuna and sardine and she loves these! They are effectively just shredded meat and look like a sandwich filling!! (The remains 30% is "botanicals, fruits, vegetables, oils, vitamins and minerals", better than ash and cereals!!)

Happy you found something that she will eat -- this food sounds good enough for human consumption.
