I have a 20 month old bengal and a 6 month old Savannah. They have now both started turning their noses up at the wet food I am giving them. I am throwing more away than they are eating. They will both sometimes eat raw such as chicken, heart and mince. I don't know whether to change their food or not. My partner says to leave the food down and they will eat it if they are hungry. If anyone has any ideas it would be appreciated

If they've gone off it, they won't eat it. Instead of keep throwing it away, you'd be better off looking to find something else they will eat instead - I've gone through this a few times. The local RSPCA has done very well out of me and my two! But they are over two years old now and they've been eating the same food for quite sometime and (fingers crossed) will continue to do so. I'm hoping I've found food they will continue to like, but there has been a lot of trial and error since we had them.

I have a picky eater myself. This morning I opened up a can of food that he devoured the last time he had it -- a couple of weeks ago. Today, he sniffed and tried to cover it with water from his water bowl and walked away. I don't know that it's true that a cat will eat anything when its hungry! If may decide simply to go on a hunger strike and cats must eat as after 48 hours, the liver starts to break down fat and it can be fatal to the cat.

No, I just keep trying to new cat foods until I hit in something that Raiden likes. I was tossing out a lot to the raccoons, but now that a neighborhood cat seems to like my house, I am giving the leftovers to him and he is not picky at all. If you feel your kitties will do okay on a raw diet, then you can feed them raw. Me? If Raiden turns up his nose at one food, I just open another can. SPOILED!

I think it has to do with them taking a liking to something else and not being as interested in their wet food. You said they like some of the raw meats you gave them? That is probably it. You need to think from the cat’s perspective. In the wild, they would not eat tinned cat food, they would catch their prey. Raw meat is the closest they can get to that. Bengals especially are picky eaters and prefer/do better on a raw diet.

I would suggest mixing it up a bit. My boy gets bored if I feed him the exact same food every day, so I alternate different meats so he gets a bit of variety. So you are not wasting, also try using half the wet food and mixing in some raw mince, chicken, liver, hearts etc… That might work. If they just pick out the raw meat, however, and leave the wet food… you know what their preference is!
