Hello again.

I have been posting on here quite a lot this week, I apologise!! I am just so new to the Bengal breed and have a lot of questions and concerns.

So my 5 month old Bengal boy is having runny poo at the moment.

The breeder told me she has been feeding him raw chicken necks, whole, 3 meals a day. Plus dry food.

He ignores the chicken necks I give him. He isn’t interested and doesn’t seem to be able to eat them, even when cut into smaller pieces.

I have been giving him mostly cooked chicken breast, which he is eating. I know this isn’t a complete meal or at all nutritious, but as soon as I mix in a little raw chicken liver, raw beef or wet kitten food, he gets runny poo.

Can anyone please recommend what I should be feeding him so he can have firm poo’s again?

I can’t force him to eat the chicken necks because he just doesn’t want them, and I work during the day so I can’t leave raw food sitting out all day.

Should I continue with only cooked chicken breast for now, along with his dry food? Maybe for a week or so, see how he goes, and then incorporate some raw meats slowly, or a high quality wet food?

Assuming that he is enjoying the dry food and the chicken breast, I'd probably keep him on that and not mess with anything else for awhile. See if you can calm his digestion system down a bit, but don't expect it to happen overnight. I think you need to stick to one thing for awhile and see how he does on it.

That's a tough one. Your vet might be able to advise you on what to try next. My kittens had runny poo when I adopted them. It went on for a couple of months and one had it longer than the other. I tried a couple of different foods without success so I took them to the vet along with the food labels. The vet pointed out I had them on too many different proteins so I would be cautious about switching protiens hoping the problem goes away. The vet gave them an antibiotic even though they tested negative for parasites. That seemed to help a lot. I also gave them and still give them a probiotic everyday in their wet food. It's sounds like the runny poo is not uncommon with kittens and sometimes they grow out of it, but don't hesitate to get a vet involved. You want to clear that up as soon as possible and help your kitty. You can also combine cooked chicken with some rice as a temporary fix. I put it through the food processor. It will firm up the BM.

If it were me, I'd take a sample of the poo to the vet and have it checked, just to make sure it's free of parasites and bad bacteria. The stress of moving to a new home and a total change in environment can also cause runny poo in a new kitten! But, it's best to rule out any type of parasite that could have been transmitted to the kitten by the mother.

Raiden recently had coccidia and had to take medication for 10 days. The parasite was gone, but the poo was still really soft. The vet gave me a probiotic to add to the food. It's now been a week and finally the poo is shaped, but not as hard as it should be. Still have another week of the probiotic.

It seems with kitties, they have sensitive digestive systems and any little thing can upset the balance. The kitty doesn't want runny poo any more than you want him to have it.

As for the food -- I'd suggest you go to a pet store and purchase a selection of different brands and different types of kitten food until you hit on something your kitty likes.

Hey guys, thought I would post an update 

I have been feeding Zuki only cooked chicken breast plus his dry food. It has been a few days since I made this post, and I was glad to discover that this morning his poo was once again ‘normal’ looking.
Woohoo!

I will keep going with the chicken for now, and in the near future will slowly introduce some high quality wet food into his diet.

I’ll also be replacing my moggie’s current canned food with a higher quality wet food. I think it would be easier if they ate the same foods as they are always peeking into and stealing from each other’s plates!
