Hi Everyone,

We pick up our new little bengals on Saturday and I wondered if anybody had any recommendations of dry and wet food and also the ratio between feeding both.

The Breeder Is feeding Royal Canin Kitten food, dry and wet, after looking into the ingredients, for the money there are much better meat content foods available for the same price.

We are also unsure as to when we should feed the wet food, as there are many conflicting views on this.

Any recommendations would be really helpful.

DO NOT change your kittens food.
Kittens are seriously stressed moving home and changing their food at the same time is a dreadful idea. Kittens refusing to eat the new food is not good for them, and upset tummies can be very serious in kittens.
Royal Canin is frequently used by Bengal breeders because it causes little upset and is very well tolerated by kittens.
Keep them on the same food until they are pretty well grown, I suggest 6 months to a year old and introduce new food very very gradually.
Some of the high protein/high meat content foods can be too rich and cause diarrhoea and vomiting in kittens.

I agree with Brian and Elaine! Your baby will be stressed out enough with the change of ownership and environment. The more things can stay the same for the kitty, the better. So many kittens get diarrhea upon arriving .. which is usually due to the high stress level of leaving mom and siblings. So, don't be so quick to change up any food. Continue with what the breeder has been doing and the transition will be easier on you and the kitty.

Firstly, thank you for your replies and information on my question.

The comments were very helpful, and I will definitely stick with the old food until they are older, I just want to feed them well and I was not sure about Royal Canin as its expensive for what's in it.

As an ex breeder and having spoken to many many breeders re feeding, Royal Canin is often the food of choice for kittens.
Royal Canin is expensive food, it is not the food of choice of "penny pinching" breeders.
It is chosen because it works, the last thing a breeder wants is kittens with upset stomachs.
