What A beautiful cat. Really a cute cat picture. A raw diet can provide the cat with all the nutrients they need but you need to be careful.There is no law that states a bengal must be fed a raw diet.

Wow, thanks Elaine, I never knew that and have always felt guilty that I don't feed my two a raw diet! However as someone who is now on medication to suppress my immune system, I am very relieved I don't! I'm paranoid about hygiene as it is as I am so susceptible to catching anything that is going around.

I am now happily guilt free!

Excellent information, Elaine, but there are people who simply insist the raw diet is the way to go. They claim the cats in the wild eat raw meat! Raiden has never eaten raw meat and doesn't even want to when it is offered to him. For me, it would be a lot of work and not sure that it would be best for Raiden. He was brought up on dry food for 6 years and now he's eating wet food.

Going the raw route is a personal decision and if someone wants to put in the time and effort to make sure their kitty is getting all the nutrients and vitamins they need with a raw diet -- good for them! I'd rather just open a can and dump it in the bowl! LOL

Cats have done just great for the last 25 million years hunting for themselves, eating pray model raw food.

Commercial cat food has been around less than a century, dry food much less.

Humans have 'evolved' over thousands of years to eat 'cooked' meat, where as cats are much different.

Cats have stronger stomach acid on raw, as previously said. A shorter gastrointestinal tract. So bacteria have less time to multiply to a critical point. They also have a much much better since of smell, so if meat was that badly contaminated, they wouldn't eat it.

Just because commercial pet food is easier and cleaner to feed, that doesn't make it a god send to cats (& dogs) I've yet to see or hear of a cat eating raw and within 20 minutes foaming at the mouth and having convulsions before dieing. Do your research and see just how much crap gets put into commercial pet food, and how often there are recalls.

Raw food, in my opinion, is the best way to go. If you do it right, that is.

My boy was fed raw by his breeder and really isn’t interested in any commercial canned/wet food.

He loves chewing his raw meat and really enjoys it.

Many people, and vets, will advise you against feeding raw, but breeders highly encourage it. There are many benefits to feeding raw – your kitty will have less smelly poo, a shinier coat, will get all the nutrients he needs without the baddies that are added to wet cat food, AND it will cost you much less to feed him.

So, I say go for it!!

It's really a personal decision as to what you feed your cat! And vets have an opinion as well. It's so much easier to open up a can and dump the contents in a bowl than for ME to prepare anything else. I'm not the chef in the family -- my hubby is and I don't even cook my own lunches. I take the easy way out with yogurt! Raw diet is safe as long as the kitty gets the proper nutrients and that means the entire chicken, bones and organs.
