That's strange the vet doesn't want to test the fecal sample for parasites.

I'm just wondering why the poop stinks if it's just hairballs. My cat suffers from hairballs on and off but his poop doesn't stink.

If this doesn't clear up with the medication the vet has given you I would push for a fecal test just to put your mind at rest. TF is a pretty nasty parasite and is thought to cause damage to colon and lead to IBS if left untreated.

It's been 24 hours without vomiting... she is perky and adventurous and very healthy again. I wish I knew what caused this... but oh well! If it happens again, now I know to get her feces tested by the vet, and I want to run some other tests as well. Thanks everyone!

Cats can get stomach viruses just like humans. When Raiden suffered from his one and only episode of diarrhea, I took him and a sample to the vet after 24 hours. They found bad bacteria in the sample and put him on pills -- which were fun. They were blue and every time I thought I'd gotten him to swallow it, I'd find it on the floor. But that's a whole other ball game. If your kitty has settled down now, that's great, but the next time (hopefully, there won't be one), I'd grab a sample of both and just have tests run to see what's going on. It's always better to be safe than sorry.
