When I first got my kittens I was all gung-ho about raw feeding. I'm not gonna go into why I quit, it's a long boring story.

Anyways, I had to start raw feeding again, my little boy was starting to get really skinny and malaised. He took to the chicken wings like a pro, didn't skip a beat!

Now that he is getting better I need to start varying his diet and I've been looking around at raw foods.

OMG, there are so many companies now making raw cat foods, there weren't this many on the market when I first started.

So, where are you raw feeding folks in the USA buying your foods?

Which companies are using human grade meats?

I am in Utah. We have used Nature's Variety Instinct Raw as a pre-made food.

Most recently, I have been chopping chicken gizzards and hearts coarsely then mixing them with some large muscle meat, like pork, as well as a bit of liver. Quasar gets a sprinkle of pulverized egg shell daily for calcium since he doesn't eat bones very well.

I pretty much just feed pre-fab diet as a fall-back for when I have a pet sitter feed him a meal or two.

An added bonus: the chopped meats stay frozen (and fresher) longer in the cooler when we go camping as well. It's also a lot less expensive than pre-fab.

I decided to get some raw meats and supplements (following a feline-nutrition.org recipe) to make my own complete meal. I have a #8 cabelas grinder, so I may as well make it myself.

My package got here today and it was leaking blood!

So, how about raw meat sellers? The company I ordered from was around the first time I started looking into raw feeding.

Where do you folks buy your bulk raw meat?

I get my raw meat at the grocery store.

The grocery stores around here don't carry the organ meats the recipe called for. Doesn't matter anyway, cat wont eat what I just ground up for him. Guess it was too big of a change, too quickly.

So, now I'm gonna try tcfeline supplement premix you just add to raw muscle meat. Hopefully that will work with chicken breasts, I can't feed him chicken wings forever.

Are there any other premix brands out there? Maybe one without calcium so I can toss him a wing, he seems to enjoy gnawing on them so much.

Took about 24 hours to get him to eat the ground chicken breasts in the supplement slurry. (I didn't starve him during that time- was putting a few breast cubes on top of the mixture.)
He is meow meow meowing for it now!

So far he has kept it down, 2 full days, 8 portions of 1/4 cups. Over feeding him a bit because his boney hips need some mass.
He had been eating canned cat food, for about 2 years. Then recently he started to occasionally throw it up, and finally he couldn't keep it down at all, so that's why I rushed to the grocer for chicken wings.

As an added bonus his sister is eating it too! I think I'll try a red meat next, she always liked the beef and bison when she was a kitten.
Unfortunately I still have 8 flats of canned cat food that was purchased during bulk discount sales. Oh well, it'll feel good to give it to my local shelter.
