Starving, or just plain greedy?

My Bengal kids are pretty voracious eaters when I provide them with the wet food. But I do leave dry food as well and they are getting more adjusted to eating the dry. I've weaned them to one can of wet a day and leave plenty of dry food. It's an adjustment period.

Dexter is eating that much I am seriously considering taking him to the vet to rule out any medical problems!

I am literally feeding him non-stop from morning till night.

He is very slim although not underweight (not bony or anything) and has loads of energy but for my own peace of mind I think a trip to the vets will be coming up soon.

How old is Dexter now? My two were terrible as kittens, I could never satisfy their appetites when they were 6 months to a year old. Dexter is probably going through a growing spurt, occasionally my two would slow down a bit and sometimes would even leave something in their bowls and I would be really chuffed I'd finally managed to fill them up. Then the next day I'd be hassled constantly for more food. I was feeding them four times a day, breakfast, lunch, dinner and supper right up until 10 months old when I cut out the lunch and gave them more for breakfast so I wasn't having to run home at lunch time every day...

In fact, I used to worry how I would afford their food as adults they used to eat so much, but now they've slowed right down - it's all a bit disconcerting!!

They are very active cats (especially as kittens) so don't worry too much (rich coming from me, I worried all the time about over feeding them and they'd end up fat!).

My two have a trip to the vets on Monday next week for their boosters so I will be checking he is happy with their weight etc then. I think I assumed as they have such a muscular build, they would still be eating a lot - but you live and learn!! I also assumed lanky Hendrix would fill out a bit more than he has, but he's still lanky lol

Quasar is 2 1/2 years old now. He eats a raw diet. He eats 8 - 10 ounces of meat daily. He's been known to eat more, on occasion. Hubby didn't believe how much he is eating when he took over feeding for 2 days. When the weather was warm, he ate a little bit less.
Quasar is the leanest, wiriest, fittest cat I have ever owned.

Hi Clare Dexter is 5 months old now (although he was born on 19 May so I make that 6 months but dh disagrees :rolleyes:

) and he eats non-stop particularly during the day.

I really couldn't tell you how many meals as I'm up and down all the time. I tried to stick like you to breakfast, lunch, dinner, supper but he does all that just in the morning and then again in the evening lol!

He is very leggy and slim but I can't feel his backbone and he has grown a lot and is very active. Maybe he's going through another growth spurt. I don't want to limit his intake in case he needs it and I keep hearing that you shouldn't at this age.

I'm sure like you once he stops eating so much I'll be worrying about that too.
