Does anyone feed their kitties with any treats such as Dreamies? Are these bad for bengals?

My cats think their individual kibble pieces are treats if I hold them or set them down. The determining factor appears to be my excitement about them.

Made a mistake with Dreamies and my girls.

They might get 3 pieces each, twice a day. Usually when I am leaving for work, and when I get home, as I hate leaving the house and leaving them there, so give them something they like to alleviate my guilt!

That was all fine, and they've had these on and off for a few weeks now. Until Wednesday evening, when I got home and gave the girls their treats.

5-10 minutes later, one vomited, twice in 5 minutes. The poor thing has never been sick before, and you could see that she had no idea what was going on, trying to back away from it while it was happening, and her demeanour immediately changed. She slinked away to her bed to sleep it off, looking very sorry for herself. Was sick again when she got up an hour or so later. More sleeping. Got up, sick again. The poor girl was wiped out for the entire night. I stayed up until 2am with her just to make sure that she had a few hours clear of being sick, and had kept at least some water down. She slowly perked up a bit until I eventually felt safe enough to go to bed.

Long story short...no more Dreamies for my girls, and I'll make sure that I get some advice on any further treats. I know that this kind of thing may not usually bad in small doses, but...not worth the risk again. Was far too worried about her.

She was back to normal in the morning, thankfully, and got a new toy as a 'sorry' present when I got home, so hopefully I am forgiven.

I absolutely agree. I think I was going for variety. Their favourite thing in the entire world is chicken, and I always have a stock of it in the fridge and ready to go. They get a lot of that, so I was trying to change it up, and got burned. Will definitely go back to using meat for treats, and get some other meat for them to eat.

I can still picture the look on her face after she was sick, and that alone is well enough to keep me away from that rubbish again.

Thanks for all your responses. Decided against those foul treats and have given him some raw sheeps heart as a treat. He loves it
