Hey guys,

Currently have a one year old bengal(Ralph) and tabby(Stewart). They've both been eating a raw food diet for about 4 months now and have excelled. I buy a packaged raw food from a local pet store called tollden farms. I usually buy beef which is mixed with a botanical blend, if they have it sometimes I buy rabbit or duck.

This morning I gave them their regular raw beef patty and half a can of wet food(almo- tuna and mackerel). As soon as the tabby was done he vomited it back up. The bengal was fine. I waited 12 hours and feed them again as per usual. Same raw beef but this time a can of almo- seafood blend, containing shrimp, squid and trout. Again the tabby vomited it back up.

I'm not sure what to think, from reading on line it could be a few things. Bad meat, I don't think so, bengal is fine. Meat was too cold? Possibly but again bengal didn't vomit. Maybe a fish intolerance? Could this occur out of nowhere?

I'm currently at a loss, he is still himself. I will call vet in the morning but if you guys have any ideas please respond. Thank you!

Hiya, is he vomiting any other time that eating? I personally wouldn't re introduce raw straight away because his stomach will be delicate. Raw feeding need a healthy balanced stomach to be able to deal with the bacteria that live in raw meat. I would boil him up some chicken breast meat and offer him that for a couple of days and slowly introduce the raw back in

Only vomits immediately after he eats. Do you think it could be a food intolerance to either beef or fish?

Ok does the raw you give him contain any bone ....chunks etc not powdered I don't mean.

Also can you feed him something else, chicken as I suggested and see whether the vomiting happens, is he drinking and keeping water down? Also try him on a few treats.

If he does it again you may need to get him to the vet to make sure there is no obstruction

So I fed him this morning like I usually do. His raw beef patty and half a can of trout and mackerel.. He did not puke and is his old self. Any ideas?

Does he bolt his food down?

I have to give Benji a small amount at a time or he gobbles it up and is then promptly sick, but by giving half his food and then if he is still hungry I give him the rest.

They both rarely consume water as there is a lot of water in the canned food they eat, vet said that was fine.

There are no bones in the raw food, I mush it up very well before they eat. I fed them one at a time this morning as the bengal tends to Bolt his food down(never is sick) and try to get at the tabby a food which I believe makes him eat faster.

Feeding one at a time may be a solution to my problem.

Maybe I will switch from beef to chicken. I would love to prepare my own raw meals for them I just don't have the time. Buying prepared is very convenient. I use a brand called tollden farms.

It sounds like you are all good, am pleased about. One of me boys will eat his biscuits down quick run around and then chunder them everywhere...pleasant lol

Believe it or not vomiting can be caused by Acid Reflux. My father has a 10 year old Tabby and she was vomiting for like a year couple times a week. The vet thought it was probably hairballs. Another vet checked for acid reflux sure enough thats what it had. The solution...2 mg of Pepcid AC daily. No more vomiting.
