My bengal is 1 1/2 years old. I've tried various foods & none seem to work out well. She scoots all the time & has had her anal glands expressed several times. Her poop isn't that solid. She sometimes has gas. I believe she may have digestive issues.

Breeder had her on Taste of the Wild. We switched it because we wanted something that easier to find (at Petsmart or Petco).

1st food we tried was Blue Wildness dry & wet food. She LOVED it but her poop was VERY runny. Vet said that food is often too rich for cats.

2nd food we tried was Wellness Core dry food & Wellness wet food. Poop was still very runny.

3rd food we tried was Blue Basics Limited Ingredient Fish Formula dry food. This one has grains but not the 'bad' ones like wheat & corn. I told my husband to pick up the grain free one & he picked up this not realizing it had grains. The cat LOVES it so we've stuck with it. This food along with the Wellness (grain free) wet food worked out well, her poop was solid & she wasn't scooting. BUT then she started rejecting certain flavors of the Wellness canned food, would outright refuse to eat certain flavors & it got to the point where she rejected most so I decided to switch her wet food. I 'auditioned' many wet foods including Blue Basics Sensitive Solutions wet food. She liked Nature's Recipe the most, would go crazy for it.

4th food we tried was Nature's Recipe wet food. This comes in a grain free formula & one with grains but not the 'bad' ones like wheat & corn. She was scooting again so I thought it was the grain free food that was too rich for her & discontinued feeding her those & stuck with her feeding her the ones that have grains. Took her to the vet, her anal glands were expressed & she stopped scooting for a week then started again. She also has rejected 2 flavors now. I got her Vetri-Mega Probiotic & she has been on it for about a week or two, still scooting, I imagine it needs more time to work.

She gets Pure Bites treats.

I would really like to get her on grain free dry & wet food. I'm not sure what other foods to try. Would appreciate some suggestions or advice. I am not open to feeding her raw, I know all about it so don't waste your time trying to convince me to do it or shame me for not doing it.

I think the "butt dragging" is often associated with worms. But if you have the "strong smell" thing going on, it could be TF or something else. I think there's a really strong possibility that it's a parasite. Please get him checked out at the vets and tell him about your suspicions.

If it is TF you will need a three day pooled poop sample to take to the vet (refrigerating between sampling).

The sample cannot have any cat litter in it.

My two had TF and I know how bad the smell is!

I watched and when they went in the litter tray I shoved a piece of plain paper under their butt to catch it then transferred it to the pot.

Took her to the vet yesterday. She needed her anal glands expressed, they were full. Vet suggested I switch her to Taste of the Wild, went out & bought it after I brought my cat home. Vet looked at her stool sample under a microscope but didn't see any parasites, seems to think it is an issue of finding a food that works for my cat- I hope so. I have to bring in a fresh sample today for them to send to the lab- just waiting for the cat to make it.

Mac and Faust are extremely sensitive to corn. We went through Taste of the Wild, Nature's Instinct, Blue, etc. Until we found want used to be Merrick's Before Grain (BG). The changes the name to Purrfect Bistro, which just sounds silly, but it works. They eat it, have mostly solid poops, and don't vomit it often. They also have four flavors of Wellness canned and 5 of Purrfect Bistro canned (split 1/3 to Faust, 2/3 to Max) and the occasional can of Solid Gold Cat Tuna. It's a fine balance and if we change it even slightly, there is food refusal, projectile vomiting and/or vile shitastrophies all over the house.

It s definitely get the things done mentioned above.

My TF test took about 6 days to come back but I guess it depends where it is sent and how busy they are.

I am keeping all fingers and paws crossed here for you.

She hasn't eaten this morning. I'm trying not to freak out but I totally am... I'm one of those nervous people who has anxiety about everything. XD Last night, when I went to bed there was a little bit of dry food left in her bowl. When I woke up none of it was eaten, I expected her to have eaten most of it. I filled the bowl up with a mixture of the Blue food & Taste of the Wild (like the vet said to) then topped it the food that had been left in the bowl (I don't put fresh food on top of old). I didn't see her eat out of the bowl this morning & she didn't touch her Taste of the Wild wet food. This is out of the ordinary. She is constantly eating. It seemed like she liked the TOTW dry food. For the TOTW wet food, she gobbled it up the first time I gave it to her then after that seemed meh about it.

She is sleeping now, I hope she eats when she wakes up.

Am anxiously waiting for the TF test to come back. If it is negative then I guess I will have the vet do allergy testing. I have compared ingredient lists of foods we've tried & I can't figure out what she could be sensitive to. This is so frustrating & stressful.

I know people who feed their animals the cheapest, low quality food full of fillers, by products, wheat, corn, etc & their animals thrive on it yet I feed my cat the premium cat food & she has always had problems.
